Field Engineer - Commercial Construction

As a Field Engineer, you’ll support jobsite operations by partnering closely with the Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and with a high level of quality. This is a field-focused, developmental role designed to build the knowledge and experience needed to grow into future construction leadership.
You’ll gain hands-on experience in scheduling, coordination, safety, quality, and site logistics while working directly with crews, subcontractors, and project teams from project start-up through closeout.
What You’ll Do
- Support planning and execution of construction procedures, specifications, work schedules, and site logistics
- Coordinate subcontractors, self-perform crews, and material deliveries to maintain workflow and schedule
- Assist in developing and managing look-ahead schedules using tools like P6 or MS Project
- Identify and help resolve field issues in real time to maintain project momentum
- Support site logistics planning, including access, staging, and resource coordination
- Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and daily site safety efforts
- Assist with inspections, testing, and quality control processes to ensure compliance
- Maintain accurate documentation related to project progress, safety, and quality
- Support labor tracking, productivity monitoring, and cost awareness in the field
- Attend project and coordination meetings with internal teams and trade partners

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or a construction certificate program with equivalent field experience
- Ability to work full-time in a field-based construction environment
- Working knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and jobsite safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and field crews
- Willingness to learn scheduling, logistics planning, and field coordination responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- 0–3 years of construction experience (internships or field experience encouraged)
- OSHA 30 certification and/or First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience with construction software such as Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or VDC tools
- Exposure to lean construction practices, pull planning, or last planner systems
- Experience supporting field operations, site logistics, or subcontractor coordination
Absher is a Federal Contractor. All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
Salary offers are typically made between the entry and midpoint of the range and are based on factors such as experience, education, and internal equity.
Pay Transparency
$80,000 - $120,000 USD

Background checks may include verification of employment history, education, criminal records, and references. For positions with access to company financial accounts or credit card programs, a credit history check may also be conducted.
