Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Level Artist to join our dynamic team. As Senior Level Artist, you will be instrumental in supporting both internal and external art teams by creating large-scale environments that meet the highest visual standards of our projects. You possess a meticulous eye for detail and a love for crafting stunning, immersive environments.
 
Core Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with design counterparts to establish scale and composition of a region or space in white-box form while meeting high level design and art goals.
  • Collaborate with production, modeling, and art direction in the planning of world building assets and kits. Define detailed asset lists, following the asset request pipeline to fully realize each unique region and POI of the game.
  • When required, create scale proxy assets and Jira briefs for use in kit development, following an established asset pipeline with the modeling lead.
  • Narrative set dressing and world building in-engine, including landscape painting and sculpting natural environments as well as urban environments, from white-box to polish stages.
  • Experience working with a variety of common and custom art tools, including level instances, blueprints, and procedural content generation and its application to a large open world and variety of biomes.
  • Proactively identify issues of quality and performance. Be responsive in addressing and troubleshooting bugs related to graphics, performance, and gameplay.

Core Qualifications:   

  • 5+ years of experience in the video games industry and at least one shipped AAA title.
  • Proven proficiency in one or more of the leading software packages. 3DS Max, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, Adobe suite, Substance Suite etc.
  • Strong sense of scale, proportions, and composition.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5 preferred. Otherwise, familiar with modern level editor workflows and game development pipelines. (Unreal, Unity, or Proprietary Engine)
  • Knowledge of the UE5 nanite asset pipeline, including modeling and physically based rendering (PBR) texture and material workflows.
  • Experience with modular asset creation and world building techniques.
  • Strong communication and cross-departmental skills, particularly with the level design department.
  • Flexibility and self-management skills to juggle tasks and assignments depending on high level production needs.
  • Ability and confidence to proactively research and learn new Unreal 5 skills, techniques, and bug fixes that appear over the course of production.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Game Art, related field, or equivalent industry experience. 

Plus If

  • Experience building Unreal Engine 5 PCG graphs
  • Strong fundamental art skills with an eye for color, form, composition, and narrative storytelling.
  • Experience with Gaea, World Machine or similar terrain generation software.
  • Experience working on an open world game.

The base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000 per year. Actual compensation is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We also offer a competitive package of benefits including vacation time, sick time, company holidays, parental leave, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) matching to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
