Software Test Engineer 2 (SDET)
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Software Test Engineer (SDET) role focuses on delivering efforts at the Costa Rica center to ensure full regression and performance test coverage for ongoing Accela Civic Platform (SaaS) releases. Additionally, it involves advancing Accela’s maturity in Test Automation, Test-Driven Development, CI/CD, and Performance Engineering.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable for the successful launch and delivery of new, key Accela Product Releases, Engineering Initiatives, alignment Accountable for the successful launch and delivery of new Accela Product Releases, Engineering Initiatives, and alignment with Cloud deployment activities.
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scenarios to ensure the quality and reliability of software products.
- Automate API and UI testing for web-based products and application services using Python with Robot Framework and other open-source tools, integrating test cycles with the CI/CD pipeline.
- Participate in an Agile team, attending daily scrum meetings, as well as planning and grooming sessions.
- Contribute to functional, performance, automation, and infrastructure initiatives that impact cross-functional teams through automated deployment and regression testing.
- Author and execute test cases for all release cycles, implementing software best practices. Identify gaps and issues, working creatively and efficiently to troubleshoot and resolve system problems.
- Familiar with using monitoring tools like Datadog and Windows/Database monitoring tools, with a product-focused mindset to analyze performance and scalability issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and quality assurance, to identify test requirements and drive the testing process.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and testing techniques to incorporate best practices into the testing process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in quality engineering, functional testing, test automation, and test harness development using open-source tools.
- Strong knowledge of frontend and backend applications, system testing, API and mobile testing, and integration with DevOps pipelines.
- Proficiency in testing methodologies, tools, and techniques, including Agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teams across different time zones.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Python/Java-based automation development and Robot Framework Automation is a big plus.
- Experience in SaaS products, API services, and pipeline activities.
