Senior UX Strategist
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior UX Strategist is responsible for shaping and advancing user experience strategy across key areas of Accela’s product portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of product strategy, design, and customer insight—ensuring that user needs, workflows, and experience design principles inform product direction and solution development.
The Senior UX Strategist partners closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Product Marketing to translate complex domain problems into clear, scalable experience strategies. This role brings a strong systems-thinking mindset, driving alignment across teams and helping deliver intuitive, accessible, and effective solutions for government agencies and their constituents.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
UX Strategy & Vision
• Contribute to and help evolve UX strategy across Accela’s platform, grounded in user needs, product goals, and architectural direction.
• Translate product strategy into experience principles, frameworks, and interaction models across assigned product areas.
• Drive consistency in user experience across workflows, surfaces, and product experiences.
• Support and apply UX standards, patterns, and design system principles across teams.
User Insight & Research Strategy
• Partner in developing research strategies to understand user behaviors, workflows, and unmet needs.
• Synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable design and product recommendations.
• Work closely with UX Research and Product teams to ensure insights inform roadmap priorities and design decisions.
• Advocate for continuous discovery and user feedback throughout the product development lifecycle.
Experience Architecture & Design Direction
• Define end-to-end user journeys, workflows, and interaction patterns for complex product areas.
• Provide strategic input into design solutions, ensuring alignment with user needs, accessibility standards, and product goals.
• Collaborate with Product Designers to translate strategy into high-quality designs and prototypes.
• Ensure design decisions align with broader platform standards and design systems.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Alignment
• Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Design to align UX strategy with roadmap priorities and technical constraints.
• Influence product direction through a user-centered perspective, contributing to prioritization and solution decisions.
• Drive alignment across teams to support consistent experience delivery from concept through release.
• Contribute to strategic discussions related to product direction and customer experience.
Product & Platform Impact
• Identify UX gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities within assigned product areas; recommend scalable improvements.
• Contribute to platform modernization efforts, including workflow simplification and experience consistency.
• Support the adoption of emerging UX practices, including AI-assisted and data-informed design approaches.
• Help define and track UX success metrics, including usability, adoption, and user satisfaction.
• Promote data-informed decision-making within UX and product teams.
• Communicate UX insights, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of experience in UX strategy, product design, or related roles within B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
• Experience contributing to UX strategy for complex products or multi-surface applications.
• Strong foundation in user research, interaction design, and experience architecture.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without formal authority.
• Strong communication skills, including ability to present to stakeholders and product leadership.
• Experience working within agile product development environments.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in govtech, public sector, or highly regulated enterprise environments.
• Experience working on platform or multi-product ecosystems.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design practices.
• Experience contributing to or working within a design system.
• Exposure to AI-driven UX patterns, conversational interfaces, or emerging interaction models.
• Comfortable operating in matrixed environments with Product, Engineering, and Go-To-Market teams.e.

- Up to 10% travel for team collaboration, customer research, workshops, conferences, and business needs.

COMPENSATION AND WELL-BEING
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$168,000 (less applicable taxes). The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience. In addition to an annual base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus target. This is a discretionary bonus awarded based on company and individual goal achievement.
