Defensive Cyber Instructor
AFS is seeking a Defensive Cyber Instructor to deliver high-quality training, instruction, and mentoring to future officers. In this role, you will provide course and learner feedback to key stakeholders and handle development and delivery of Defensive Cyber training programs to United States US Space Force customers. Using your experience, you will provide context and examples to mentor and guide tactical and strategic Cyber Network Operators, and collaborate with the customer to target relevant, cutting-edge tactics and technology for inclusion in future iterations of the course material.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, qualify on, and deliver in-residence cyberspace operations course materials (lessons and laboratories) consistent with the principles of Instructional Systems Design (ISD), and aligned to 319 CTS instructions, security classification guides, and other guidance as identified
- Interface with internal and external cyber agencies as required to update and maintain a state-of-the-art training program regarding cyber tactics, tools, and exploits
- Coordinate instructional activities with the Contract Task Lead and government personnel
Here’s what you need:
- Bachelor's degree & 6 years' relevant experience, or 10 years' relevant experience in lieu of degree
- 6 years' experience in defensive cyber security, mission assurance, and/or Indicators of Compromise (IoC)
- 6 years’ experience with defensive cyberspace operations
- Experience with the Cyber Kill Chain concepts, DCO tools, commands, and techniques (e.g.: NMAP, Zenmap, CLI/PowerShell, SEIM, ELK stack, IDS/IPS systems, SNORT, TCPDump PCAP, Wireshark etc)
Bonus points if you have:
- Completion of Air Force Instructor Course or similar joint/civilian instructor course
- Experience with AI & tools pertaining to cybersecurity
- Possess working knowledge of and experience with Cyber operational-level command and control constructs
- Skilled communicator, experienced in providing platform instruction to an academically diverse audience
Security Clearance:
- Active or current TS/SCI level clearance

The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below.
