Senior Accountant

Position Overview: 

Do you have a knack for numbers? 💸 As aSenior Accountant you will be supporting the daily and weekly needs of the Accounting/Finance team and working closely with operations team. We seek a motivated, self-starter who prioritizes attention to detail and accuracy. The Senior Accountant must be able to work with sensitive and confidential information, so trustworthiness is important, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Being a team player is paramount as we work in a team-oriented environment.  

As a member of our Finance Team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of our organization. You’ll use your diligence, as well as your keen eye for details, to support our company and clients – ultimately impacting the financial trajectory of our company 🌱. Location: United Kingdom; then, you choose what works for you! This role can be performed 100% remotely anywhere in the UK, at our office location in the UK, or a hybrid version of in-office and remote.

Reports to: Director of Finance

Travel ✈️ Requirement: Up to 10%

 

What you’ll be working on: 

  • Ensure the monthly close is completed accurately, efficiently and on-time.
  • Issue timely and accurate monthly financial packages including complete reviews of packages and revenue recognition methods.
  • Revenue reporting and analysis, including sending out sales invoices.
  • Perform all facets related to invoicing customers and management of outstanding receivables.
  • Ensure all vendor invoices are paid timely and accurately recorded.
  • Ensure all bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations are completed within deadlines.
  • Maintain a system of controls over all accounting transactions.
  • Daily or Weekly cash-flow updates. Prepare and update cash flow forecasts on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations analyzing and resolving any differences in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the preparation of VAT return filings and other statutory compliance tasks where required.
  • Review financial and operating metrics to measure the performance of the company operations including recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist with interim and annual audit requests, engaging directly with the Group’s auditors as needed.
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and revenue projections in collaboration with the Commercial and Operations teams.
  • Ad hoc reporting as required including special projects as necessary.
  • Coordinating accounting functions and delegating tasks to staff accountants.

 

Technologies 💻 you may work with: 

  • SUN Info accounting system.
  • SAGE Intact accounting system.
  • Microsoft Office, predominantly Excel, Word and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of SQL queries.

 

What you bring to the role: 

  • Demonstrate 2+ years of progressively responsible experience. Note: ‘years of experience’ may not always be the best measure for your ability to succeed in this role. If the below bullet points feel like you, please consider applying – even if you don’t have, say, X years in seat.
  • Studying toward or obtained a relevant accounting qualification or equivalent accreditation (ACA, ACCA, CPA)
  • High level of proficiency with Excel.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.

 

⭐️ Bonus points if you have: 

  • Accounting qualification with practice (public) accounting experience
  • Familiarity with SUN & SAGE Intacct accounting software.
  • Experience using SQL.
