Practice Description
The Commercial Excellence Associate will take point on supporting the Commercial Excellence function in conjunction with the Director and Senior Managing Director, Commercial Excellence. This position will partner with multiple levels of leadership to create, build, and implement foundational sales and business development strategies and capabilities design to meet and exceed our growth targets. With offices across the US and London, we are looking for a highly organized, commercially savvy, people-oriented leader that can help drive our commercial function.
This position must be based in our New York office and is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work remotely 2 days a week. Ideal candidates should be local to the desired location.

What You’ll Do:
Commercial Strategy & Support
- Facilitates the development and execution of Accordions BD strategy (e.g., goals, etc.)
- In partnership with the Director and Senior Managing Director, build and execute a multi-year Commercial Excellence roadmap spanning people, processes, technology, and AI enablement.
- Works closely with Office Leaders to ensure alignment, adoption, and accountability for BD priorities across practices and markets.
- Conducts ongoing competitive and market landscape assessments to identify commercial opportunities, target accounts, and whitespace.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives across BD processes, methodologies, and operational workflows.
Reporting, Analytics, & Forecasting
- Monitors and analyzes BD performance against targets, KPIs, and strategic goals; proactively identifies trends and opportunities.
- Owns ongoing governance, quality, and optimization of DealCloud (CRM), including pipeline integrity, key account tracking, and relationship management activity.
- Partners with Finance and Data & Analytics to design and maintain executive-level dashboards and reporting for the C-Suite and ELT.
- Translates data insights into actionable recommendations for practice leaders and executive leadership.
- Provides leadership with forward-looking revenue and pipeline forecasting to inform strategic planning and resource allocation
Business Development Enablement
- Collaborates with Marketing to develop and enhance BD collateral, messaging, pitch materials, campaigns, and tools used by MDs in the field.
- Ensures adoption of BD tools and processes across practices through coordinated engagement with Office Leaders.
- Identifies BD process gaps, inefficiencies, and modernization opportunities; leads cross-functional improvement projects.
- Partners with HR/L&D to design training curricula and coaching programs that strengthen BD capabilities within the MD/SD population.
- Works closely with IT to evaluate, implement, and integrate commercial technology, AI tools, automation, and enhancements that improve scalability and effectiveness.
BD efforts support
- Partners directly with the Director and Senior Managing Director to pursue business development opportunities
- Helps to design and deliver tools, messages, decks, etc. to support BD efforts ‘in the field’ including proposals
- Joins ongoing key BD events in market and keeps up to date on ongoing events to engage in new opportunities to expand commercial efforts
Administrative Support
- Manages the Commercial Operations inbox, triaging, delegating, and resolving inquiries efficiently.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for Office Leaders on administrative and operational questions related to BD processes.
- Responds to Managing Directors’ BD-related inquiries and support needs, leveraging judgment to escalate appropriately.
- Ensures strong documentation, governance, and process consistency across all commercial workflows.
You Have:
- 3 – 5 years of experience in professional services
- Understanding of professional services sales cycles
- Ideally, DealCloud experience or other experience with Professional Services CRM software
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
- Think like an owner mentality

- A self-starter with a strong work ethic.
- Located in New York or willing to relocate
- A leader of others; you lead by example.
- A strong team player, able to work with team members across all levels.
- Able to effectively communicate complex issues and solutions, and raise issues to senior team members when necessary.
- Eager to build a network in Private Equity and have strong interest to lead commercial efforts
- Comfortable managing projects with multiple complex workstreams while also focused on your single workstream (you are managing and doing).
- Excited to be part of a growing team, with a focus on driving future growth.
- Full of entrepreneurial spirit and comfortable in a fluid, flat organization.
- Knowledgeable about the relationship between Private Equity sponsors and their portfolio companies.
- Passionate about delivering exceptional client service.
The annual salary for this role ranges from: $110,000 to $140,000 USD + benefits + bonus. Actual compensation packages are determined by evaluating a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, years and depth of experience, education, certifications, cost of labor and internal equity.
