Vice President, Data Solutions

London

Company Overview

We are the better way to work in finance. As private equity’s value creation partner, we sit at the heart of PE—where sponsors and CFOs meet. Through financial consulting rooted in data, technology, and AI, we help clients drive value—supporting the office of the CFO to drive end-to-end value creation.

If you crave challenging work and are looking to grow, come solve complex problems alongside a team of finance and technology professionals in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Backed by leading private equity investors, we are a high-growth, entrepreneurial firm with a global presence. We are looking for people who want to help build something great and make a lasting impact.

About the role

Accordion’s Data & AI team in London designs the data foundations that private equity-backed businesses use to run their value creation plans. As Vice President, Data Solutions, you’ll own the architecture, data operating model and client relationship. You’ll work out what the business needs and why, shape the design, define how data is owned, governed and managed, and lead delivery with our engineering teams in India. Every platform is tied to measured value. You’ll work alongside our finance transformation teams and colleagues who have been CFOs and operators, so you’re always leading delivery based on the decisions the data serves.

This role will be based in our London office. Ideal candidates should be local to the desired location, with the flexibility to work remotely 1-2 days a week, blending the best of both worlds for efficiency and collaboration.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead data assessments and diagnostics through stakeholder interviews, workshops and reviews of systems, data flows and reports. Interpret profiling results, identify root causes and develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Turn ambiguous business requests into clear problem statements, requirements and success measures. Test assumptions with client teams and prioritise opportunities according to business value, feasibility and dependencies.
  • Shape target architecture options with directors, architects and engineering leads. Assess platform and integration choices, explain trade-offs to clients and review technical designs against agreed requirements.
  • Lead the delivery team in India across data engineering and analytics workstreams. Translate recommendations into clear delivery briefs, priorities and acceptance criteria, and review progress and outputs with technical leads.
  • Work with business users to define analytics requirements, shared metrics and semantic definitions. Guide the delivery team and validate that models and reports are accurate, usable and answer the intended business questions.
  • Assess data readiness for AI and agents. Define requirements for business context, metadata, lineage, quality and secure access, and oversee delivery of the controls needed for structured and unstructured data.
  • Develop recommendations for data operating models and governance. Clarify ownership, stewardship, decision rights and support processes, and work with client teams to put them into practice.
  • Assess master data management (MDM) issues and define requirements for trusted customer, product and supplier records. Agree ownership and business rules, and guide delivery of matching, deduplication and maintenance processes.
  • Define data quality frameworks, measures and acceptance criteria with business owners. Review monitoring results, challenge unresolved issues and oversee remediation by the delivery team.
  • Manage day-to-day client engagement for your workstreams. Run working sessions, review deliverables, coordinate dependencies and communicate progress and risks, escalating wider scope or commercial decisions to directors.
  • Produce clear assessment findings, architecture recommendations and delivery roadmaps. Contribute to effort estimates, proposals and business cases, and coach team members on the business context and expected quality of their work.
  • Regularly and extensively travel across Europe to work with clients in the relevant jurisdictions.

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong consulting skills gained in consulting or industry, including structured problem-solving, handling ambiguity and advising stakeholders. You can ask incisive questions, test hypotheses and distinguish evidence from assumptions.
  • Experience assessing data capabilities or diagnosing complex data problems, with the ability to map systems and data flows, interpret findings and identify underlying causes.
  • The ability to shape practical solutions from business needs, translate requirements into delivery briefs and explain options, trade-offs and priorities to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Technical fluency in data architecture, engineering and modern platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks or Microsoft Fabric/Azure. You can assess proposed approaches, challenge estimates and review designs and delivery quality with technical leads.
  • A sound understanding of analytics solutions, semantic models and KPI definitions, with the ability to clarify business requirements and validate whether delivered outputs support the intended decisions.
  • A practical understanding of the data foundations for AI and agents, including business context, metadata, lineage, data quality and secure, permission-aware access.
  • Experience assessing or improving data governance, MDM or data quality practices, and an understanding of how ownership, stewardship and operating processes support reliable data.
  • Clear client advisory and communication skills, including facilitating workshops, presenting recommendations and building trust with clients or internal business stakeholders.
  • Experience leading or coordinating distributed delivery teams, with the ability to direct the team in India, clarify priorities, review outputs and resolve issues across business and technical teams.
  • The ability to own defined workstreams and manage scope, dependencies, quality and delivery risks. You can contribute realistic estimates, communicate progress clearly and seek director support when decisions affect the wider engagement.
  • An interest in private equity and portfolio company priorities, with the ability to connect data investment to business outcomes. Experience supporting finance teams or working in private equity-backed businesses is useful.
