Physical/Dimensional Calibration Technician (Tescom)

Tescom, part of the Accredited Labs family, is seeking a highly skilled Physical/Dimensional Calibration Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with deep expertise in dimensional metrology and a passion for precision.

As a Calibration Technician, you will independently perform calibrations on a wide range of physical and dimensional instruments in both laboratory and field environments. We service a wide variety of Central Texas customers across many industries, which requires a broad cross-section of skills.   

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibrations in accordance with ANSI/NCSL Z540.1 and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.
  • Calibrate and verify performance of dimensional and physical instruments, including:
    • Calipers, micrometers, dial indicators
    • Torque wrenches and transducers
    • Pressure gauges and manometers
    • Scales and analytical balances
    • Thread, plug, and pin gauges
    • pH meters, humidity sensors, airflow meters
  • Conduct in-lab and on-site calibrations with precision and efficiency.
  • Maintain and operate calibration standards and reference equipment.
  • Ensure all Measurement & Test Equipment (M&TE) is properly calibrated prior to use.
  • Document calibration results accurately and maintain traceable records.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates and resolve technical inquiries.
  • Support continuous improvement in calibration processes and documentation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Formal training in Physical/Dimensional calibration (e.g., military PMEL, metrology school, or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in dimensional calibration.
  • Experience in an ISO 17025-accredited commercial calibration lab.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and travel for on-site work.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience using IndySoft or similar calibration management software.
  • Familiarity with calibration of environmental sensors (humidity, airflow, etc.).
  • Knowledge of uncertainty calculations and traceability requirements.
