Senior Calibration Technician - Field (PCS)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Calibration Technician to join our Precision Calibration Systems team, an Accredited Labs company. In this senior‑level role, you will serve as a technical expert and customer‑facing representative, performing complex calibrations across diverse environments while mentoring junior technicians and leading onsite service activities.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in physical/dimensional calibration across a wide range of equipment. Our well‑equipped laboratory covers calibrations in many disciplines, including instruments such as calipers, micrometers, torque instruments and transducers, pressure gauges, scales and analytical balances, thread/plug/pin gauges, pH meters, humidity instruments, airflow meters, and many others. This position supports a wide range of industries across Tennessee and requires strong problem‑solving skills, technical leadership, and the ability to operate with high levels of independence.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee complex calibrations in accordance with Z540.1, ISO 17025:2017, and internal quality procedures.
  • Serve as a senior field representative, traveling daily to customer sites to perform onsite calibrations and related services.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance acceptance testing on new and existing equipment.
  • Lead field calibration activities at customer locations, including planning, coordination, and ensuring technical accuracy.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior technicians and support staff.
  • Operate, maintain, and perform higher‑level repairs on laboratory calibration standards and reference equipment.
  • Review calibration and test results for accuracy, traceability, and compliance, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor for clients, providing clear communication, updates, and support to resolve technical concerns.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate calibration documentation and ensure all records meet ISO 17025 and internal requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and contribute to corrective and preventive action activities.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Completed formal calibration training in physical/dimensional disciplines with significant hands‑on experience.
  • Military PMEL Training and Certification.
  • Associate’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent advanced technical experience.

Required Senior‑Level Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience performing calibrations on a broad range of physical/dimensional instruments.
  • Proven experience working in an ISO 17025–accredited calibration environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex calibration issues and perform advanced measurement analysis.
  • Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty, traceability requirements, and quality system principles.
  • Experience leading onsite calibration assignments or mentoring other technicians.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including customer interaction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and calibration management software.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, kneel, drive, and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with IndySoft
  • Prior supervisory or lead‑tech experience
  • Multi‑disciplinary calibration experience (electrical, RF, temperature, pressure, etc.)
