Calibration Technician-Field (Cal-Labs)

La Mirada, CA

Cal-Labs, an Accredited Labs company, is seeking a qualified Field Calibration Technician to support on-site calibration services for customers throughout Southern California. This position is responsible for performing calibrations at customer facilities in accordance with established procedures and quality standards. The ideal candidate comes from a mechanical or technical background with calibration experience or exposure to calibration procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform on-site calibration of customer equipment at customer facilities
  • Primary discipline is Physical/Dimensional, which includes optical comparators, microscopes, surface plates for on-site, as well as calipers, micrometers, thread plugs, rings, etc done in lab as time permits
  • Follow documented calibration procedures, work instructions, and quality system requirements
  • Accurately record calibration data and results in the calibration management system
  • Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and communicate findings per company procedures
  • Represent the company professionally at customer sites
  • Meet productivity, scheduling, and turnaround time expectations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a calibration technician or in a related technical field
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, specifications, and drawings
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn mechanical and technical skills quickly
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work independently in a field environment
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • 1+ years of experience with Physical/Dimensional calibration of equipment
  • Able to lift 70+ pounds, climb, kneel, drive and stand for long periods of time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent customer service skills, good organizational and prioritization skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory or field service environment
  • Knowledge of principles, procedures, methods and techniques in metrology gained through education, or professional experience
  • Metrology experience
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering or other Technical Field
  • Technical Degree or Certificate
  • Military PMEL Training
  • Experience with IndySoft
