Position Description:
Make a Lasting Impact on Young Lives – Join Us as a Mental Health Liaison (MHL)!
Are you passionate about supporting the mental and emotional well-being of children and teens? This is your chance to turn that passion into purpose!
We’re looking for a Mental Health Liaison to serve the Girard School District during the 10-month school year—with the option to go full-time by providing outpatient therapy at ACLH’s Psychiatric Clinic.
In this dynamic, school-based role, you’ll be a trusted resource, a problem solver, and a lifeline for students navigating mental health challenges. You'll help kids thrive—both in and out of the classroom.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct screenings and assessments for students in need
- Collaborate closely with caregivers, school staff, and students
- Serve as a vital member of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) team
- Provide short-term therapy and coordinate referrals for ongoing care
- Lead individual, group, and family counseling sessions
- Be the critical link between schools, families, and mental health support systems. You'll be part of a supportive interdisciplinary team, working together to remove barriers to success and create brighter futures for every student.
- Identify and address mental health, substance use, and academic/social concerns impacting student success
- Coordinate care until services are established or needs are fully met
- Provide crisis intervention and ongoing case management
- Consult with school staff and contribute to IEP meetings, behavior plans, and classroom strategies
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a mental health area or related field plus 3 years’ experience providing therapy services for children, teens and families
- Master’s degree in a mental health or related field, or a bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience providing therapy and Family Based Mental Health certification, preferred
- Student Assistance Program experience, preferred
- Advanced knowledge of therapeutic interventions and an ability to coordinate services / referrals
