Position Description:
The BHT Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day administrative support of the Behavioral Health Technicians’ performance in IBHS Individual Services and IBHS ABA Services. This will include providing training and oversight to the BHTs to ensure program standards and quality initiatives are met. The Supervisor will oversee the case-loads and ensures all BHTs/BHT-ABAs are meeting standards and expectations. This position reports to the IBHS Administrative Director.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that staff who provide IBHS are supervised in accordance to the IBHS regulations
- Ensures staff who provide IBHS have access to supervisory staff during the hours that IBHS are provided, including evening and weekends.
- Completes and documents a clinical record review for quality of the IBHS provided and ensures compliance with the regulations and documents the outcomes of the review quarterly.
- Ensures that training for the staff is being provided as required by the regulations.
- Personally, adheres to the agency’s mission, vision, philosophy, guiding principles and core values; demonstrates commitment to the agency; in line with the Agency’s mission and values.
- Interviews, hires and on-boards all new BHTs/BHT-ABAs.
- Provides on-going program-specific training to existing BHTs, ensuring they meet required program/agency/regulatory training requirements.
- Ensures that required clinical supervision is provided to assigned staff in accordance with program-specific requirements.
- Tracks and maintains clinical supervision documentation and annual Individual Training Plans for all BHTs.
- Ensures the timely and accurate submission of all clinical billing documentation. This is completed daily to ensure accuracy and early detection of barriers.
- Reviews all BHT-submitted Incident Reports/Staff accident reports and supports the BHT in their handling and interactions in all client incidents/staff accident reports.
- Reviews, approves, and submits all hours worked for payroll daily and mileage reimbursement requests to ensure staff are reimbursed timely.
- Manages BHT vacation accruals, time request off submissions, and ensures that staff understand their PTO accruals and how to access that information.
- Provides first level (coaching) of progressive disciplinary action when a BHT/BHT-ABA’s performance drops below the expected standard.
- Informs IBHS Administrative Director when staff performance requires progressive disciplinary action.
- Conducts performance reviews with the assistance from the IBHS Leadership (Directors and Supervisors).
- Supports the IBHS program with authorization processes to include packet submission, submission of discharge paperwork, and in filling in when Care Coordinator duties and supports are needed to support the program in times of increased packets and/or vacancies in that position.
- Fosters in BHTs/BHT-ABAs the respect for families’ beliefs, values, and cultural/linguistic/racial, and socioeconomic diversity.
- Fosters in BHTs/BHT-ABAs the respect for family choice regarding treatment goals and methods.
- Acts as a resource to families in meeting their BHT/BHT-ABA needs and responds to complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job as required by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and agency requirements.
- Ensures that timelines are met for client services.
- Reviews, investigates, and reports provider complaints for the department.
- Attends agency staff meetings, in-services, and other relevant agency meetings.
- Engages in community education and outreach efforts, as designated.
- Pursues professional development opportunities, both individually and as deemed appropriate by supervisor for agency participation.
- Maintains positive professional relationships with other community service providers.
- Participates on committees, special projects, and all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, and/or related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience required in a Child and Adolescent Serving System Program (CASSP) or employed by a licensed mental health services agency.
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a mental health or related field.
- Previous supervisory experience in a mental health or related field.
