
Business Analyst [Term-Limited]
ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Business Analyst in the Development Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month. This is a 2-year term-limited position.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Reporting to the Associate Director of Business Analysis & Reporting, the Business Analyst will support launch and stabilization of CRM migration project and serve as functional liaison for ongoing strategic Development Department projects. In collaboration with ACLU’s National and Affiliate fundraising community; Development Data, Systems, and Revenue Operations (DDSRO); and the Tech department, the Business Analyst will define unmet business needs, outline solutions, and construct systemwide enhancement recommendations.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
- Leading requirements gathering sessions and interviews for general fundraising and development projects
- Writing requirements and user stories as needed for assigned projects
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing: designing tests, coordinating testers, overseeing testing activity, monitoring result logging, escalating defects, and verifying fixes
- Compose procedural instructions, including visualizations, that may inform direct training and support materials
- Create user-facing documentation for the reporting workstream of the CRM migration project as needed
- Support Data Definitions refinement work and maintain fundraising operational glossary
- Maintain BI dashboard logic library in collaboration with reporting colleagues
- Document project discovery process and preserve decisions, organizing and categorizing documentation to optimize findability
- Create solution design documents
- Facilitate change management by liaising with Support, Training, and Knowledge team to communicate process changes that impact end user support
- Support project launch planning by identifying actions and solutions to deploy, anticipating ways to mitigate risk and increase effectiveness of go-live
- Facilitate issue discovery and partner with Data teams to monitor system behavior
- Assist in team roadmapping and capacity planning as needed

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Strong project management skills, including defining project scope, creating project plans, problem-solving, coordinating team members, and advancing goals within stated timelines.
- Experience conducting in-depth requirement assessments with critical stakeholders and translating results and findings into proposals and recommendations for Tech teams
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with both waterfall and agile software development
- Capacity to scope, manage, and deliver on assigned projects, both independently and collaboratively
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills including ability to positively influence and persuade, and to use listening, diplomacy, and tact to build internal relationships
- Technical writing skills and ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa
- Proficiency with Asana or other project management software
- Familiarity with diagramming and collaborative design and documentation tools
- Familiarity with CRM reporting and/or business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Hex, etc.
- SQL proficiency preferred
- Experience with fundraising operations preferred
- Experience working at large, complex nonprofits preferred. Experience at a national or international federated organization in constituent data management a plus
- Experience with Blackbaud CRM products a plus
