Development Operations Coordinator
The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey (ACLU-NJ) seeks a Development Operations Coordinator; a key member of the Development Department who works closely with the Director of Development (DOD), Major Gifts Officer (MGO), and Executive Director (ED), supporting the team in research, solicitation, scheduling and strategy.
The Development Operations Coordinator is responsible for the operational functions of the development department and supports the organization's fundraising efforts by increasing efficiency and accountability.
The Development Operations Coordinator is primarily responsible for all data entry, acknowledging donors, managing the Customer Relationship Management database, maintaining regular reporting, and coordinating with the Finance Department.
This role also serves as the project manager for departmental systems development and management and for special projects including mailings, small events, and planning. This successful candidate has excellent project and peer management skills; has strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills; and can work independently as well as in a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Database Administration:
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of the Salesforce database
- Process all incoming donations into the Salesforce
- Work with the Finance Manager to process weekly
- Compile monthly reports and reconcile with Finance
- Support the annual reconciliation process, overseen by the Director of Development and ACLU
- Maintain reporting schedules and pulling reports as necessary; Maintain development dashboards, incorporating regular update
- Troubleshoot database issues
Managing Acknowledgement Process:
- Ensure weekly gift acknowledgement for all incoming
- Call and thank all donors $1,000 and up who are not in a major gifts portfolio.
Administrative Support:
- Support the work of the Development Team by preparing and sending materials for donors.
- Works with ED, Development Director, and Major Gifts Officer to capture meaningful contacts with donors in Salesforce
- Assists in scheduling meetings with prospective funders and donors
- Aid in grants research and reporting for grant funders
- Draft correspondence and reports as requested
- Respond to inquiries from donors and funders
- Research and qualify new donors
Event Logistics:
- Coordinate and support major donor focused fundraising and cultivation events.
- Manage invitations, RSVPs, food, and other logistics for

- Work with the Development Team to identify and create opportunities for processes and approaches that can advance our commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and
- Communicate our organizational commitment to equity, belonging, and inclusion with donors, supporters, board, and staff
- Be an active, engaged member of a Development team that thinks creatively, ambitiously and openly about how our development program and organization can better integrate equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging into our day-to-day operations as well as our goals and plans
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of office coordination/administrative support experience in a professional environment, with preference for experience working in development at a non-profit
- Must have experience working with databases; donor databases (CRM) or Salesforce experience.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office technology, in particular Excel though also including Word, Outlook, and
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for building strong professional relationships with donors, board members, volunteers, staff, and the general public.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to speak comfortably and compellingly with donors about the potential impact of their philanthropic investments in the
- Demonstrated understanding, knowledge of, and commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, racial justice, and the ACLU of New Jersey’s

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position starts at $60,000 and is negotiable within the ACLU of New Jersey salary scale, depending on experience. The ACLU-NJ supports and plans for staff member professional growth and skill development through internal and external opportunities. We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package which currently includes 30 days paid time off, 12 office holidays and 18 health care leave days; medical, vision, and dental insurance; 100 days paid family leave; life and long-term disability insurance; pre-tax transit benefits; and a 401(k) plan with employer match. This position is full-time, salaried, and exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
