
Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing day-to-day maintenance tasks to support the safe and efficient operation of the organization’s facilities. This includes preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and responding to service requests. The role requires hands-on technical skills, good communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Note: This position is considered onsite and will need to commute to ACOG's office located in Washington, D.C.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Document daily occurrence and the completion of work orders and preventive maintenance orders in a timely manner. Communicate to leadership any equipment malfunctions, repairs made, and materials used
- Perform routine facility maintenance such as changing air filters, inspecting HVAC units, adjusting thermostats, replacing lights, minor plumbing fixes, and general repairs.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities as scheduled or directed by leadership.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment status using work order systems.
- Assist with furniture assembly, office moves, painting, and basic carpentry or finishing tasks.
- Support snow removal, outdoor maintenance, and safety-related upkeep during adverse weather conditions.
- Monitor contractors/vendors on-site and report progress, concerns, or delays to Facilities leadership.
- Respond to facility-related service calls, including minor emergencies and building systems malfunctions.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours building coverage and emergency response.
- Identify potential safety hazards or maintenance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain clean, organized workspaces.
- Perform other maintenance and support tasks as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of all facility and electrical equipment including, but not limited to power tools, minor electrical wiring, preventive maintenance practices, and small hand tools.
- Must work well both independently and as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma required.
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience in the building maintenance mechanic field required.

- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequently walk and stand
- Frequently climb or balance
- Occasionally push and pull objects
Salary Range
$55,000 - $65,000 USD
