
Director, Digital Platforms & User Experience
The Director, Digital Platforms & User Experience leads the delivery, governance, and continuous improvement of ACOG’s digital platforms, including the website, community platform, LMS, and mobile app experience. This role ensures that ACOG’s digital properties are stable, scalable, accessible, and aligned with business and user needs. The Director leads platform operations and governance while establishing UX standards, managing strategic vendor partnerships, and continuously optimizing the digital ecosystem through performance measurement, analytics, testing, and user feedback to deliver a seamless, consistent user experience across channels. This role partners closely with IT, Membership, Marketing and Communications, Publishing and Product Development, Meetings, and Data Strategy to execute ACOG’s digital roadmap and support the broader Digital Experience Framework.
Note: This position is considered Hybrid and will need to commute to ACOG's office located in Washington, D.C.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position does have direct supervisory responsibilities, which may include serving as a coach and mentor for those they supervise.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic ownership and oversight of ACOG's digital platform portfolio, establishing priorities, governance, and performance expectations while leading the team responsible for platform delivery and operations., including Optimizely DXP, community platform, LMS, mobile app, event applications, email platforms, and all other marketing technology
- Oversee platform stability, performance, accessibility, and release cycles
- Lead strategy of the component library, templates, and design system standards
- Ensure consistent implementation of taxonomy, metadata, and tagging
- Lead technical UI/IA standards across all digital platforms
- Partner with the Director, Brand and Content Design to ensure digital platforms support ACOG's brand, content design, and creative standards while delivering a consistent, accessible, and user-friendly digital experience.
- Ensure accessibility compliance, usability best practices, and end user training
- Oversee digital platform QA processes, testing cycles, and defect resolution
- Partner with business teams to validate user needs and experience improvements
- Implement and maintain digital governance workflows, including governance and platform decision pathways
- Manage Agile delivery processes, sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and release management
- Maintain documentation, workflows, and operational processes for platform management
- Ensure alignment with enterprise digital policies and standards
- Manage day-to-day vendor relationships, ensuring accountability for delivery, communication, and quality
- Oversee contracts, scopes of work, and performance metrics
- Drive the digital platform strategy and platform portfolio roadmap, approving platform priorities, investments, and major system and user experience decisions. Prioritize enhancements, optimizations, and platform improvements
- Identify opportunities for efficiency, scalability, and member value
- Partner with Data Team to ensure platforms support analytics, tagging, and measurement
- Manage personalization capabilities across digital platforms, ensuring experiences are tailored, data‑informed, and aligned with ACOG’s digital experience roadmap.
- Use insights to inform platform enhancements and UX improvements
- Monitor platform KPIs and report performance trends
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong expertise in digital platform management, UX/UI principles, and component-based design
- Deep understanding of digital platforms and ecosystems
- Experience with Agile methodologies and continuous improvement models
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage complex projects, competing priorities, and cross-functional teams
- Strong vendor management and contract oversight capabilities
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, taxonomy, metadata, and digital governance
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in digital media, information systems, human-centered design, or related field
- 10 years of experience in digital platform management, UX, or product management
- Experience leading teams and managing vendors in a digital environment
- Experience with enterprise platforms, Agile delivery, and digital operations
- Nonprofit or association experience preferred but not required
Salary Range
$120,000 - $135,000 USD
