Manager - Tax & Accounting
Job Purpose
We are looking to hire an Accounting & Tax Manager with strong and demonstrated skills in general accounting and experience in managing compliance to Philippine Tax rules. The Accounting & Tax Manager should possess high business acumen in maintaining timeliness and accuracy in general accounting processes and extensive experience in Philippines Tax compliance with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
To ensure success, the Accounting & Tax Manager should have experience gained from big companies, with keen interest in product distribution and services industry. Top candidates will have pro-active approach in managing risks in both accounting, treasury and tax compliance.
Job Responsibility
- Tax Management:
- Overall knowledge of BIR Tax resolutions, updates and changes in guidelines. Knowledge in tax assessment and calculation.
- Close management and up-to-date responses to BIR LOAs to minimize risks in tax assessments and penalties.
- Reconciliation of BIR tax assessment with supporting documentation.
- Regular Tax Filing - Ensures timely and accurate filing and payment of all corporate monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns, supporting schedules, alpha lists and reliefs for Value Added tax, withholding tax, Income tax, Final Tax, DST in accordance to BIR filing guidelines.
- Alignment and reconciliation of all Tax Ledgers in the company book of accounts. Tax filing and settlements should be aligned to the accounting ledgers at all times.
- Compliance to BIR guidelines in issuance of Forms 2307 and filing/payment of BIR Form 1606.
- Filing of annual inventory list with the BIR.
- Ensures compliance to BIR’s tax mapping requirements, and local taxes for municipality license accreditation.
- The company’s Computerized Accounting System (CAS) management under BIR ruling.
- Responsible for the company’s accreditation with the government agencies such as BIR, SSS, PHIC, HDMF and LGUs if any.
- Coordinates with Corporate Secretary and Company lawyers for legal compliance and company accreditation with SEC.
- Handles tax queries from clients, suppliers, and Management regarding tax governance.
- General Accounting:
- Weekly Cash Forecasting for local and regional reporting.
- Treasury management – cash receipts, disbursements and reconciliation, cash pooling, cash transactions interfaces with clients, payment portals and banks, and banking relations,
- Fixed Assets Management – capitalization, regular depreciation runs, adjustments, write off and audit.
- Accrual Accounting – booking, actualization and reconciliation
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation – maintain fully accounted and reconciled transactions in the balance sheet ledgers
- Month and Year end Closing – review of transactions and accuracy of ledgers, actively manage closing activities to comply with the regional consolidation calendar.
- External Audit – take ownership in organizing accounting team’s activities in providing for audit requirements and inquiry responses over the set timeline.
- Process Improvement projects for sustainability and compliance to company policies, internal controls and risks management.
- Manage team of accountants, and tax professionals.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business management.
- PH tax practitioner’s accreditation is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting and tax management.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls and strict compliance to taxation law and government guidelines.
- Proficiency in accounting and operating systems (e.g., Netsuite, SAP, Oracle) and advance Excel.
- Ability to work in a fast-pace environment and handle multiple competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills, necessary in dealing with internal stakeholders and external government authorities.
