IT Intern (Full Time) - Houston, TX

A&C Plastics is seeking a full-time, onsite, Information Technology Intern for our fast-paced office.

HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

COMPENSATION: $20 per hour – Benefits are not included

WHAT WINNING LOOKS LIKE:

  • Assist in performing hardware and software installation procedures
  • Perform software configuration on stand-alone computers and laptops
  • Provide in-person support in diagnosing hardware and software issues and troubleshooting activities
  • Document all processes in reference manuals for training and guidance
  • Respond to user support requests, take measures to fulfill requests and troubleshoot problems and help develop solutions
  • Assist in hardware and software inventory management
  • Handle periodic maintenance of hardware and software
  • Troubleshoot equipment such as printers and scanners and other peripherals
  • Participate in the development of software applications
  • Handle researching options and research computer bugs and their solutions
  • Take telephone calls from users and attempt to assist them with their information technology questions and problems
  • Handle IT-related documentation and make sure that all IT supplies are available
  • Provide users with ongoing assistance in their information technology problems
  • Coordinate meetings and projects between our internal IT team and external groups
  • Provide support in setting up end-user training activities
  • Handle infrastructure administration activities such as server and storage capacity handling and directory services management
  • Develop incident response procedures and assist with business intelligence development activities
  • Provide support for phone system hardware and administration
  • Perform routine check-ups on existing hardware and devices
  • Understand how to track and document physical hardware inventory and report on the status of inventory

SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of six months paid or volunteer work experience with computer desktop support in a networked environment for a small to mid-sized organization
  • Must be available and willing to commit at least six (6) months initially for an internship.  This could potentially turn into a permanent full-time position if all goals are successfully met throughout the internship
  • Minimum of two years of college or trade school education in a business, communications or computer related field with minimum of 3.0 GPA or above
  • A basic understanding of computer network cabling and network file and print services
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Proficiency in computer applications:
    • Microsoft Excel – Manipulation of data; transferring data; development of charts and tables
    • Microsoft Word – Entering and formatting text; inserting charts, tables, and other visuals
    • Microsoft PowerPoint – Creating and editing slides; inserting text, charts, tables, and visuals
  • Conducting research via internet browser
  • ERP Systems (Epicor/P21 is a Bonus)
  • Salesforce or other CRMs
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage time
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and effectiveness in working with a high performing team
  • Ability to research, learn, and understand new concepts on your own
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and promote strong internal and external relationships
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to maintain professional (business casual) dress and grooming
  • Ability to furnish documentation proving your eligibility to work in the United States

Both drug screen and background check will be conducted.
