POSITION OVERVIEW
The Life Valuation Actuary will join the Global Atlantic Life and Annuity Actuarial team. The role will be with the Financial Reporting team and include support for Corporate Actuarial functions.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Timely preparation of complete and accurate life actuarial values required for Statutory, Tax and GAAP financial reporting.
- Enhancing automated processes to value product liabilities in compliance with all applicable regulatory, industry and professional standards.
- Establishing the infrastructure needed to meet the time sensitive demands of monthly financial reporting set forth by management or external customers.
- Keeping abreast of the regulatory and legislative environment related to life valuation and financial reporting issues. Discussing these potential impacts and developing recommendations on required actions with the members of the valuation team.
- Providing support to internal/external auditors, insurance departments and Finance on all life related requests and maintaining documentation for audit trails.
- Supporting and providing leadership to the development and maintenance of appropriate valuation and policy exhibit systems with a strong focus on efficiency, consistency and flexibility in line with product segments.
- Providing internal team development, coaching and training to valuation team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education and experience equivalent to a four-year college degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, or other related field, with a minimum of two years of experience in the life insurance industry is required.
- Must be actively taking Actuarial Exams with the intention to complete or have already completed the necessary requirements for Associateship or Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries.
- Strong knowledge of individual life products, valuation processes and actuarial guidelines, product development and pricing, and balance sheet/income statement concepts is preferable.
- Strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships are required.
- Familiarity with valuation software, modeling and pricing techniques is preferred.
