AcuityMD is a software and data platform that accelerates access to medical technologies. In this role, you'll investigate customer questions about the data that powers critical business decisions while building the technical foundation for a career in software engineering. As part of our Software Engineering Track, you'll become an expert in AcuityMD's data platform, develop advanced SQL and Python skills, learn modern AI-assisted development practices, and partner closely with experienced engineers to improve our products. Team members who demonstrate strong technical growth and engineering fundamentals will have the opportunity to transition into Junior Software Engineer roles.

As part of this team, you'll build deep expertise in our data assets while partnering closely with engineers and product teams to strengthen the accuracy, reliability, and customer impact of everything we deliver.

Responsibilities

Customer Data Investigation

  • Investigate customer questions about data displayed throughout the AcuityMD platform using SQL.
  • Research issues end-to-end, identify root causes, and validate findings across multiple data sources.
  • Distinguish between expected platform behavior, customer education opportunities, and true product defects.
  • Communicate findings clearly to Customer Success, Support, and customers when appropriate.
  • Create detailed engineering tickets with reproduction steps, supporting evidence, and root-cause analysis.

Platform & Product Improvement

  • Build deep expertise in AcuityMD's data model, business logic, and data pipelines.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Customer Success, and Support to improve platform quality and customer trust.
  • Identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve data quality, tooling, and operational processes.
  • Help Engineering validate fixes and ensure customer issues are fully resolved.

Software Engineering Track

  • Expand your technical skills in Python, AI-assisted development, Git, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Learn how production software is designed, built, tested, and maintained by working alongside experienced software engineers.
  • Take on increasingly technical projects as your skills grow.
  • Build the technical foundation needed to transition into a Junior Software Engineer role through demonstrated performance and technical development.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or another quantitative discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 0–2 years of professional experience. Recent graduates and candidates with relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience writing SQL to analyze or investigate data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate ambiguous questions and identify root causes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Curiosity, ownership, and a passion for learning new technologies.
  • Interest in building a long-term career in software engineering.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with Google BigQuery or other modern cloud data warehouses.
  • Experience writing Python.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
  • Experience working with large analytical datasets.
  • Exposure to Git, software development workflows, or programming through internships, coursework, or personal projects.

AcuityMD is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role's scope and complexity, candidate experience, and market data. Base salary range: $80,000–$100,000 USD.

You must have an eligible work permit in the USA to be considered for this position.
