Principal Medtech Architect

AcuityMD is a software and data platform that accelerates access to medical technologies. We help MedTech companies understand how their products are used, why customers vary, and identify opportunities for physicians to better serve their patients. Each year, the FDA approves ~6,000 new medical devices. Our solution helps MedTech companies get these products to physicians more effectively so they can improve patient care with the latest technology. We're backed by Benchmark, Redpoint, ICONIQ Growth, and Ajax Health. We're a high-growth AI and Data company scaling rapidly.

The Principal Medtech Architect is a senior role in AcuityMD's Forward Deployed team and owns our most strategic AI engagements. You will lead AI build partnerships with our largest customers across the full engagement lifecycle, from pre-sales discovery and executive workshops through solution delivery, outcome validation, and transition to the account team for adoption and value realization.

You will partner with account teams and customer leaders to identify where AI can create meaningful business value, translate high-priority workflows into scoped solutions, and guide the delivery of durable, scalable builds. This role requires equal strength in executive advisory, commercial judgment, solution architecture, and hands-on delivery leadership.

Success means turning a customer's unique workflows and pain points into AI solutions that achieve measurable outcomes and scale across the organization. You are as comfortable leading a working session with C-suite executives as you are collaborating with customer teams and AcuityMD builders to make the solution real.

Team Mission

The Forward Deployed team builds custom AI solutions on top of AcuityAI to maximize customer outcomes. We turn customer AI ambition into measurable, durable value by identifying the workflows where AI can create meaningful impact and delivering the solutions that bring those workflows to life.

Responsibilities

  • Own strategic AI build partnerships end to end, from pre-workshop discovery and opportunity framing through workshop facilitation, build sprint delivery, solution validation, and handoff.
  • Lead foundational conversations that position AcuityMD as the customer's AI solution for Medtech and a strategic platform for executing its AI roadmap.
  • Design and facilitate executive leadership workshops that surface high-value workflows and produce actionable, prioritized use-case portfolios.
  • Recommend the right engagement model for each use case, including in-surface enrichment, callable tools, bespoke skills, and insight-to-action workflows.
  • Work with customer stakeholders to define the business case, ROI assumptions, success metrics, and validation approach against which each solution will be measured.
  • Translate customer pain points, workflows, and technical requirements into well-scoped AI solutions and multi-workstream delivery plans.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering, as appropriate, to scope and lead Forward Deployed sprints, driving build quality, delivery discipline, and customer outcomes.
  • Validate that delivered solutions achieve the intended outcome and are positioned to scale across the customer's organization before transition to the account team.
  • Partner with Program Managers to lead platform-level roadmap conversations with customer’s AI leadership team, including CTOs and CIOs.
  • Collaborate closely with Customer Success, Professional Service teams, and Sales and Value Engineering to deliver a cohesive customer experience.
  • Shape AcuityMD's external product-market narrative on AI in medtech through customer conversations, field insights, and strategic thought leadership.
  • Mentor early-career Medtech Architects, strengthen the Forward Deployed playbook, and raise the bar for excellence across the team.

What You'll Bring

  • Executive presence. You have peer-level credibility with customer C-suite stakeholders, including CEOs, CTOs, CIOs, and CCOs. You can lead an executive workshop, guide rigorous discovery, and navigate difficult conversations with confidence and judgment.
  • Medtech domain credibility. You understand the commercial, clinical, and operational realities of medical technology organizations and can quickly build trust with customer leaders and frontline teams. You identify meaningful pain points and high-value workflows in a domain-fluent way.
  • AI and architecture fluency. You can shape strategic conversations about AI, hold roadmap and architecture discussions with customer technology leaders, and explain AI capabilities, solution patterns, risks, and tradeoffs to audiences with varying levels of technical fluency.
  • Delivery leadership. You have demonstrated success scoping, selling, and delivering complex, multi-quarter, multi-workstream engagements. You translate customer needs into executable plans and drive solutions to measurable outcomes.
  • Commercial and customer judgment. You can distinguish compelling use cases from lower-value opportunities, recommend the right engagement shape, and align customer ambition with practical scope, value, and delivery considerations.
  • Exceptional communication. You communicate with clarity and influence across organizational levels and can translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional leadership. You build alignment across Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, Implementation, and Data teams while maintaining clear ownership and momentum.

Your Profile

  • 10+ years of relevant experience across medtech, healthcare technology, enterprise SaaS, AI services, or adjacent fields, with direct medtech experience strongly preferred and weighted based on depth and leadership impact.
  • A demonstrated record of leading strategic customer engagements and delivering complex technical solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Experience delivering AI products, AI-enabled services, or custom AI solutions for customers.
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment is preferred.

Nice to Haves

  • Advanced degree, such as an MBA, MS, or clinical degree.
  • Prior Forward Deployed experience at a peer AI, data, or enterprise software platform company.
  • Published thought leadership at the intersection of medtech and AI.

How We Work:

AcuityMD is a remote-first company. We believe the best talent isn't confined to one zip code, so our team works from wherever they do their best work, across the U.S.

In practice: expect 4-5 in-person opportunities a year through company/team on-sites and in-person collaboration for critical projects. If you're based near our Boston hub, there's no set requirement for how often you come into the office, that's your call, based on what works best for you and your team.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
