Job Role
Adams Clinical is seeking applicants for the Lead Mental Health Technician role within our overnight inpatient research facility at our Philadelphia location. The Lead Mental Health Tech plays an essential role in ensuring participant safety and maintaining a therapeutic environment within our overnight inpatient research facility. This position supports ongoing clinical trials by providing direct care, supervision, and engagement with research participants under the guidance of the In-patient Unit Manager, Clinical Research Coordinators, and the Principal Investigator.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an active member of the Inpatient Unit team, supporting participants and staff while maintaining a professional, respectful, and therapeutic environment. Use verbal de‑escalation and monitor behavioral changes.
- Promote teamwork by collaborating with the Unit Manager, Clinical Research Coordinators, Principal Investigator, and clinical staff to ensure compliance with study protocols and care standards.
- Participate in shift handoffs and maintain continuous observation of participants, including conducting and documenting 15‑minute wellness checks.
- Manage and document behavioral or emotional escalations, ensure safe transitions for scheduled assessments and research visits, and escort/supervise participants on and off unit grounds (including outdoor time and smoke breaks).
- Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as hygiene, room care, meal supervision, and laundry.
- Support unit operations by cleaning, restocking supplies, designing/facilitating daily activities, and following assigned checklists and participant schedules.
- Monitor, assist with, and document medication administration; obtain and record vital signs; collect and process urine specimens and phlebotomy samples per protocol and SOP.
- Prepare and label lab specimens for courier pickup or shipment, ensuring proper handling and documentation in line with research guidelines.
- Facilitate admissions and discharges in partnership with the IPU Manager, including participant orientation and required documentation.
- Complete all required daily and incident documentation and perform additional duties as assigned to support participant care and research operations.
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
