The Role
Are you driven to find the hidden signals within vast, complex financial data? Addepar’s Investment Analytics Solutions (IAS) team is seeking an intellectually curious and commercially-minded Senior Researcher to transform this unique data into groundbreaking insights that guide the decisions of the world's most sophisticated family offices, institutional investors, and advisors.
This is not a purely academic role. You will be on the front lines, tackling unsolved problems in portfolio and risk management, particularly within opaque asset classes like private equity and venture capital. Your models and research will directly power the tools our clients use, shape our product strategy, and establish Addepar as a leading voice in the investment community. You will be a builder, a thought leader, and a partner to both top-tier clients and leading academics.
Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for roles in Colorado, California, and New York.
The current range for this role is $142,000 - $200,000 (base salary) + bonus + equity + benefits.
Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additionally, these ranges reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
What You’ll Do
- Spearhead Original Research: Go beyond existing literature. You will design and execute novel research projects that identify emerging risks, trends, and opportunities using our unique, proprietary data.
- Build Next-Generation Models: Develop, backtest, and deploy sophisticated quantitative models and analytical tools that have a direct commercial impact and become core to our platform.
- Establish Yourself as a Thought Leader: Publish compelling research notes, white papers, and present your findings at premier industry conferences, influencing the broader investment conversation.
- Bridge Theory and Practice: Partner with renowned academics on innovative research projects, using real-world portfolio data to test and refine macroeconomic theories.
- Become a Trusted Partner to Clients: Collaborate directly with investors to understand their challenges, co-create custom analytics, and help them navigate complex investment decisions.
Who You Are
- You're an Empirical Storyteller: You have a deep passion for financial markets and an insatiable curiosity for finding answers in data. More importantly, you can translate complex quantitative concepts into compelling, actionable narratives for a variety of audiences.
- You're a Seasoned Quant: With at least 7 years of experience in a rigorous quantitative role (e.g., investment research, portfolio construction, risk management), you are fluent in the language of modern finance.
- You're a Master of the Toolkit: Your background is rooted in econometrics and data science. You are an expert in using tools like Python or R to develop models, run simulations, and wrangle large, complex datasets from start to finish.
- You Navigate All Asset Classes: Your expertise extends beyond public markets. You have a strong, practical understanding of alternative assets, including the specific challenges of modeling private equity and venture capital.
- You're a Proven Model Builder: You have a demonstrable track record of building and implementing sophisticated risk frameworks, including factor models, scenario analysis, and back-testing simulations. An advanced degree (PhD or Master's) in a quantitative field is highly desirable.
- You're a Published Researcher: You have a strong portfolio of work, such as academic publications, industry white papers, conference presentations, or client-facing research materials that showcase your analytical and communication abilities.

PHISHING SCAM WARNING: Addepar is among several companies recently made aware of a phishing scam involving con artists posing as hiring managers recruiting via email, text and social media. The imposters are creating misleading email accounts, conducting remote “interviews,” and making fake job offers in order to collect personal and financial information from unsuspecting individuals. Please be aware that no job offers will be made from Addepar without a formal interview process. Additionally, Addepar will not ask you to purchase equipment or supplies as part of your onboarding process. If you have any questions, please reach out to TAinfo@addepar.com.
