Scientist/Senior Scientist, Bioanalytical Sciences

South San Francisco, CA

Company
Addition Therapeutics is at the forefront of biotechnology innovation and is building the next generation of gene therapy using our proprietary PRINT™ (Programmable RNA-guided Integration Technology) platform. PRINT™ redefines genetic medicine by enabling development of RNA-only therapeutics capable of inserting any genetic element into specific safe harbor sites within the genome. Operating from state-of-the-art labs in South San Francisco, we are a Series A-stage company with programs across rare and common diseases.

The Role
We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Scientist / Senior Scientist to join our Bioanalytical Sciences team and contribute to the development and execution of various bioanalytical assays for preclinical translation and development. This is a hands-on research role: you will contribute directly to key translational studies that evaluate PRINT™-delivered payloads in disease-relevant contexts to generate high-quality data that guide candidate selection and advance therapeutic programs toward clinical development.

The successful candidate will work across obesity and metabolic disease programs. They will have hands-on experience in preclinical drug development, particularly in developing and executing in vitro and ex vivo assays. They will be a highly collaborative and resourceful scientist with a keen interest in the translational efforts to bring the PRINT™ technology to the clinic for both rare and common diseases. This role has vast learning opportunities and interfaces with many key functional areas of the company including therapeutic technology development, pharmaceutical sciences, and preclinical translation. This role presents a unique opportunity to explore the multifaceted applications of PRINT™, paving the way for novel therapeutic programs that could redefine the landscape of genetic medicine.

About the Role
The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Design, develop, validate, and execute in vitro, cell-based, and ex vivo assays to evaluate the efficacy, pharmacology, and delivery of various payloads using PRINT™ technology.
  • Develop and execute pharmacodynamic assays to measure transgene expression, protein production and secretion, enzymatic activity, receptor engagement, and downstream biological responses.
  • Develop and run cell-based functional assays to evaluate therapeutic efficacy across obesity and other metabolic diseases.
  • Establish assays using primary cells, immortalized cell lines, and tissue-derived samples to support translational studies.
  • Collaborate with in vivo pharmacology teams to analyze plasma and tissue samples from rodent and non-human primate studies.
  • Ensure accurate and reliable results through meticulous hands-on execution and record-keeping.
  • Support PK/PD characterization by generating quantitative bioanalytical data to inform dose selection and mechanism of action.
  • Contribute to assay transfer, qualification, documentation, and implementation of best laboratory practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and partners to integrate and optimize current and new assay technologies and methodologies.
  • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings in team meetings. Contribute to troubleshooting and refining assay protocols.
  • Stay up to date with relevant scientific literature and emerging technologies. Provide input on potential improvements or innovations in assay development and genomic medicine applications
  • Contribute to data packages supporting IND-enabling studies, partnership diligence, and investor milestones.

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, cell biology, or a closely related field (relevant industry experience considered in lieu of Ph.D.)
  • Proficiency across standard molecular/biochemical assay platforms: ELISA, MSD, AlphaLISA, ddPCR, qPCR, Western blot, flow cytometry, and microscopy
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture to support cell-based assays
  • Ability to independently design experiments, troubleshoot, and interpret data
  • Clear and organized scientific communicator, comfortable presenting data to cross-functional audiences

Preferred

  • Familiarity with obesity biology, metabolic disease, GPCR pharmacology.
  • Experience with genomic medicines, mRNA, or RNA-based therapeutic modalities
  • Exposure to NHP or translational PK/PD study design
  • Experience with animal models of disease is a plus
  • Familiarity with HTS or automated liquid handling platforms

Compensation

The expected yearly salary for this position is $110,000-$130,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.

We are an Equal Opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
