Job description:

Addition Therapeutics is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist / Senior Scientist to join the Preclinical Translation team and lead the design and hands-on execution of in vivo CAR-T studies. This role will have a strong emphasis on experimental execution, animal handling, model development, and data interpretation.

The ideal candidate will have experience with humanized mouse and tumor models for CAR-T, in vivo assessment of tumor killing, and characterization of CAR-T expansion, persistence, and activity. The individual will work closely with scientists across Preclinical, Disease Biology, CMC, and Discovery functions to generate and integrate in vivo efficacy and cellular / molecular readouts to advance CAR-T programs.

The successful candidate will bring technical expertise, operational excellence, and strong leadership to ensure high-quality, reproducible, and compliant in vivo data generation.  They will be a highly collaborative and resourceful scientist with superior communication skills who can work effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed setting. This role has vast learning opportunities in the field of genomic medicines and presents a unique opportunity to explore the multifaceted applications of PRINT™.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize in vivo models to evaluate CAR-T efficacy, tumor killing, expansion, persistence, and activity.
  • Design and execute in vivo CAR-T studies in appropriate humanized mouse models.
  • Perform animal handling and procedures, including dosing, blood collection, tissue and tumor harvest, and sample processing for downstream analyses.
  • Perform and interpret multiparameter flow cytometry analyses to characterize CAR-T cells and immune populations.
  • Support molecular and protein-based analyses, as needed
  • Integrate in vivo efficacy, cellular, and molecular readouts to guide program decisions.
  • Develop study protocols and contribute to IACUC amendments, animal welfare, compliance, and study documentation.
  • Manage external studies with CROs, including vendor selection, protocol design, oversight, and data review, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Troubleshoot experimental challenges and drive improvements in study execution and model performance.
  • Maintain detailed and organized study records; contribute to study reports and presentations.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, or related field, with 4-6 years of relevant research or industry experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on in vivo pharmacology experience, including animal handling, dosing, tissue collection, and necropsy.
  • Experience with CAR-T in vivo models, preferably humanized mice and tumor models.
  • Experience assessing in vivo tumor killing/efficacy and CAR-T expansion or persistence.
  • Proficiency with flow cytometry and data analysis.
  • Experience managing in vivo studies at CROs
  • Experience with ddPCR, ELISA/MSD, or related molecular/protein assays is preferred.
  • Strong experimental, analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong documentation including use of electronic notebook for record keeping.
  • Team player who fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, and scientific excellence, and who thrives in a fast-moving, results-oriented startup environment.
  • A self-motivated, driven individual with a passion to learn and can-do attitude.
