At Aditum Bio our mission is to provide access to medicines to patients in need. Co-founded by industry veterans Joe Jimenez, former CEO of Novartis and Mark Fishman, former President of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, the firm in-licenses promising therapies and advances them into Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical studies to enable proof of concept. The firm focuses on the translational phase of medicine to generate data that can support full clinical development, and eventual market launch, to reach patients in need.
Position Summary
Aditum Bio is seeking a highly-motivated Contracts Associate with transactional law experience in the life sciences industry to join its Legal Department. This opportunity has become available to support the increase in our contract volume as the preclinical and clinical pipelines of our portfolio companies continue to expand. This position reports to our Vice President, Head of Legal.
Position Responsibilities
As Contracts Associate, your primary responsibilities would include:
- Drafting and negotiating a wide variety of agreements, including confidentiality agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, consulting agreements, collaboration agreements, clinical trial-related agreements, license agreements, and other vendor and services agreements in support of Aditum Bio and its portfolio companies’ initiatives
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and external parties to ensure timely turnaround and negotiation of agreements and, with respect to clinical trial-related agreements, start-up of study sites
- Preparing clinical trial agreement templates for use by US clinical trial sites and work with contract research organizations (CROs) to modify ex-US templates
- Administering and managing contract flow and volume in Aditum Bio’s Ironclad contract management system
- Assisting with corporate compliance for Aditum Bio and its portfolio companies
- Assisting with preparation for meetings of the boards of directors of Aditum Bio and its portfolio companies
- Managing special and ad hoc projects, as needed
- Working without close supervision, initiating new assignments and identifying ways to continuously improve templates, processes and operations
- Developing strong working relationships with functional groups and project teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- J.D. from a U.S. law school plus 2 – 5 years relevant experience OR at least 6 years of experience as a corporate paralegal
- Experience in-house at a biotech/pharma company, or at a top law firm is preferred for all candidates
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication and relationship management skills
- Extensive experience drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements and ability to comprehend and manage business contracts and other complex documents
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task
- Ability to identify and assess risk and communicate effectively with internal team members, business partners, and external parties
- Desire to work in a biotech startup atmosphere that requires self-motivation and the ability to work independently while exercising initiative, flexibility and good judgment
The range for this full-time position is $195,000 - 225,000 dependent on previous experience plus a target bonus, equity compensation and benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life and 401k plan with match.
Our time off benefits include flexible/non-accrued PTO plus 12 paid holidays. Sick leave will also be accrued at the rate of one hour for every thirty hours worked. For employees eligible to take parental leave, we may provide up to 8 weeks of paid additional leave. Additional leave time may be available and may be paid from other sources.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. The range displayed on our postings reflects the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries. Within the range, individual pay is determined by interview performance, job-related skills, experience, relevant education and training, and other relevant factors. Please note the range reflects base salary and does not include target bonus, equity or benefits.
