About the Role 

 

At Advanced Space, we're enabling humanity's return to the Moon and building the technologies that will take us to Mars and beyond. We're looking for 2027 Project Management Summer Interns to join our Project Management team and gain hands-on experience supporting the execution of complex aerospace and space-related projects.

As a Project Management Intern, you'll work alongside experienced technical staff who will provide mentorship and guidance throughout your internship. You'll contribute to projects involving schedule development and maintenance, project cost and budget tracking, technical risk management, project planning, and cross-functional coordination while learning how project management practices support real aerospace missions.

This internship is ideal for students interested in aerospace project execution, program management, technical project planning, risk management, and working at the intersection of engineering and business. You'll have the opportunity to apply your technical and organizational skills while gaining experience supporting projects from early development through execution.

What You'll Actually Do 

 

Support aerospace project execution initiatives.

Work alongside technical staff on summer projects focused on project planning, schedule management, cost tracking, risk management, and project execution.

Gain hands-on experience with project management practices.

Support projects involving:

  • Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) projects focused on developing and maturing new technologies
  • Full end-to-end mission development
  • Project schedule development and maintenance
  • Project budget and cost monitoring
  • Technical risk identification and tracking
  • Project management process development and improvement
  • Cross-functional coordination between technical teams and project stakeholders

Learn aerospace project execution practices.

Gain exposure to:

  • Project planning and execution
  • Schedule development and tracking
  • Cost and budget management
  • Technical risk management
  • Requirements definition and tracking
  • Project documentation and reporting
  • Project management software and tools
  • Aerospace systems development and mission execution

Share your work and findings.

Present project results through technical reports, presentations, documentation, and discussions with members of the Project Management team.

 

 Who Thrives Here 

 

  • You are currently pursuing a degree in Project Management, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or another related technical discipline.
  • You have a foundational understanding of aerospace project formulation and execution.
  • You have completed coursework relevant to aerospace systems, systems engineering, spacecraft design, orbital mechanics, project management, or a related field.
  • You can identify obvious technical risks by reviewing project documentation or participating in technical reviews.
  • You understand the importance of clear and concise requirements definition.
  • You have familiarity with project scheduling concepts or project schedule software tools.
  • You enjoy solving complex problems and organizing information to support successful project execution.
  • You work well in a team environment and are comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are curious, organized, collaborative, and excited to learn from experienced aerospace professionals.

 

 

Bonus Points if You Have Experience With

 

  • Project management or project scheduling software
  • Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar project management tools
  • Aerospace or spacecraft development projects
  • Systems engineering processes
  • Risk management or risk tracking
  • Requirements management
  • Cost estimation or budget tracking
  • SBIR or government-funded research and development programs
  • Mission development or systems integration
  • Technical writing or project reporting
  • Previous internship, research, or project experience in aerospace

  • Successfully contributing to meaningful aerospace project management and mission development efforts.
  • Applying technical and organizational knowledge to support real-world aerospace projects.
  • Developing project management skills through mentorship and hands-on experience.
  • Supporting accurate project schedules, cost tracking, risk management, and project documentation.
  • Communicating project information and findings clearly through presentations and documentation.
