About the Role

At Advanced Space, we're enabling humanity's return to the Moon and building the technologies that will take us to Mars and beyond. We're looking for a Staff Accountant with 1–3 years of experience to support day-to-day accounting operations and help keep our financial processes running smoothly.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career accountant looking to continue building a strong foundation in core accounting. You'll gain hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reports, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close while working alongside an experienced team. Government contracting experience is not required. We'll teach you what you need to know.

We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, eager to learn, and takes pride in producing accurate work. If you're ready to grow your accounting skills while supporting a company delivering real space missions, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Actually Do

Keep accounts payable running smoothly.

Process vendor invoices accurately and on time, including coding, data entry, and approval routing. Prepare payment runs, maintain vendor records, answer vendor questions, and help resolve invoice discrepancies.

Support accounts receivable and customer billing.

Prepare customer invoices, record and apply incoming payments, and maintain accurate accounts receivable records. Track outstanding balances and assist with follow-up on past-due accounts to support timely collections.

Help manage team member expenses.

Review team member expense reports for accuracy, required receipts, and compliance with company policies. Enter approved expenses, maintain supporting documentation, and help team members navigate the expense reporting process.

Support month-end close and general accounting.

Prepare and enter journal entries, record financial transactions, and assist with bank reconciliations. Help prepare schedules, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure accounting records are accurate and organized to support the month-end close process.

Maintain accurate financial records.

Keep accounting files and documentation organized, assist with audit requests, and help ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and readily accessible. Support the documentation of accounting procedures and identify opportunities to improve routine processes.

Collaborate across the business.

Work with program managers, TMS, operations, and other team members to support financial requirements, answer accounting-related questions, and help ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

Learn, grow, and improve.

Build your accounting knowledge through hands-on experience, feedback, and collaboration with experienced team members. Take on new responsibilities over time and look for ways to make accounting processes more efficient.

Who Thrives Here

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

  • You have 1–3 years of accounting experience. Relevant internships may count toward experience, and government contracting experience is not required.

  • You understand basic accounting principles, including debits and credits, the general ledger, and accruals.

  • You're detail-oriented and take pride in accuracy, especially when working with financial data.

  • You're organized and able to manage recurring deadlines while keeping track of multiple tasks.

  • You're comfortable using Excel and eager to learn new accounting software and systems.

  • You ask thoughtful questions, take feedback well, and are motivated to continue developing your accounting skills.

  • You demonstrate integrity and understand the importance of handling financial and confidential information responsibly.

  • You communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers, vendors, and customers.

  • You're a team player who enjoys collaborating with others and contributing to a growing organization.

Bonus Points if You Have Experience With

  • Completing an accounting internship or working in an entry-level accounting role.

  • Using accounting software or ERP systems.

  • Processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, or employee expense reports.

  • Assisting with bank reconciliations, journal entries, or month-end close activities.

  • Working with Excel functions, formulas, pivot tables, or other tools used to organize and analyze financial data.

  • Supporting audit preparation, maintaining financial documentation, or improving accounting procedures.

  • Working in a government contracting or project-based business environment.

  • Accurately and consistently processing financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and team member expenses.

  • Maintaining clean, organized, and reliable financial records that support month-end close and audit requirements.

  • Meeting recurring accounting deadlines and contributing to an efficient month-end close process.

  • Effectively collaborating with program managers, TMS, and operations teams to support financial requirements.

  • Providing responsive, professional communication to team members, vendors, and customers.

  • Demonstrating increasing confidence and independence in core accounting responsibilities.

  • Continuously developing accounting knowledge, taking on new responsibilities, and identifying opportunities to improve routine processes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $70,040 - $94,760 (based on experience, qualifications, and location)
