About the Team

Regulatory Product Counsel

The Regulatory Product team Counsel is responsible for managing the regulatory elements of the design, build, and maturation of our financial product suite. We work on some of the most challenging and novel issues at the intersection of technology and financial services, and we’re looking for a 10x product lawyer to join our team. 

What you’ll do

You will be responsible for partnering closely with our Product, Compliance, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams to design and deliver world class regulated financial products that align with Adyen's risk appetite and regulatory obligations. In this role, you will:

  • Advise the global product team on a range of issues including UK- and EMEA region financial regulatory requirements, consumer protection, data privacy, marketing, and integrity risk issues as they relate to Adyen’s financial product suite;
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Regulatory, Engineering, Compliance, and Operations to scope and build scalable and effective processes for review and launch of new products;
  • Partner closely with Regulatory and Compliance to define controls that ensure Adyen's Product Suite is regulatory compliant, considering commercial and strategic objectives that allow for scale;
  • Translate Adyen’s regulatory approach into relevant global Policies and Procedures to be communicated and implemented across the global business;
  • Embrace your role as a proactive business partner and build trusted advisor relationships with key stakeholders by offering legal, regulatory and strategic business input to compliantly accelerate Adyen’s product roadmap and strategy; and
  • Commit to perpetual learning and moving intentionally to help Adyen navigate a complex and heavily regulated financial services environment

Who you are 

  • You have 7+ years of experience in a product legal and/or regulatory function, in a fintech, payments company or financial institution;
  • You are deeply curious about how things work from a technical perspective and dive into the details to find out;
  • You have a strong working knowledge of UK and EMEA-region financial services regulations (including, for example,  Wwft, AMLD5, AMLR, Sanctiewet, Wire Transfer Regulation and Instant Payments Regulation, amongst others) and experience crafting policies, procedures, and advice for product teams based on these regimes;
  • You are able to translate complex legal, regulatory, and technical challenges and translate them into structured and practical solutions;
  • You are a hands-on lawyer, with strong project and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across mediums, disciplines, and timezones;
  • You have an LLB and/or LLM degree.
