The Role


The L&D Core team is the engine room of Adyen’s global learning strategy. We are responsible for building the ecosystem that supports a culture of continuous learning through global interventions and events, communities of practice, and state-of-the-art tooling. We deliver the infrastructure, from Leadership Development and Experience Design to LMS and AI-driven learning, that empowers everyone to "Own Your Growth."
As the Team Lead, you aren't just managing a function; you are the architect of this ecosystem. Your mission is to lead a high-performing team of Subject Matter Experts, defining the "North Star" for the future of learning at scale. You ensure our specialized work translates into "simple, unique, and bold" solutions that set a new industry standard and align directly with Adyen’s strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Vision & Alignment

  • Define the North Star: You will play a key role enabling and empowering your team to deliver against our 2026 strategy of strengthening leadership effectiveness. Long term, you’ll articulate a clear vision for the future of learning at Adyen, connecting leadership and community-driven development, AI trends, data literacy into a cohesive roadmap.
  • Communicate the "Why" behind strategic shifts, ensuring every stakeholder understands how our unique learning approach drives customer success.

Strategic Stakeholder Management

  • Build high-trust relationships across Academies, HR, and Senior Leadership to create visibility and buy-in for Core team initiatives.
  • Act as a Strategic Partner: Position L&D Core as a primary driver of organizational enablement, ensuring we are integrated into key business working groups and global messaging. You will not only bring your expertise, but also be a thought leader in the future of our People function.

Customer Centricity (Learner-First)

  • Meet the Learner in the Flow: We offer our customers a subscription to innovation and that means we constantly review and raise the bar for our learning approach. Advocate and challenge for frictionless, relevant learning experiences that meet employees where they are.
  • Ruthless Prioritization: Focus the team on needle-moving projects that solve real business problems, stripping away "nice-to-have" training in favor of high-impact solutions.

Leadership & Feedback Culture

  • Be a Multiplier: Hire people better than yourself and coach your SMEs to reach their full potential. You leverage your influence to amplify their impact rather than micromanaging their expertise.

  • Remove Roadblocks: Proactively identify and eliminate friction, gaining the business access your team needs to deliver their best work at speed.

 

Experience

  • Proven Leadership: Minimum 3 years of people management experience, with a track record of leading and coaching teams of specialists in a fast-paced tech scale-up or high-growth environment. 
  • Deep Learning Background: You understand how to develop human skills within global organizations. Expertise in building L&D programs within the broader HR function.
  • Stakeholder Mastery: Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and navigate complex, global matrix organizations.
  • Strategic & Bold Mindset: Experience translating complex, abstract business requirements into simple, world-class learning strategies.
  • Tech & Business Acumen: Highly comfortable with modern learning technologies (LMS, AI applications) and able to demonstrate the tangible link between learning and company strategy.
  • Culture Add: You live The Formula. You are a champion of learner empowerment, data literacy, and situational leadership.
