Corporate Counsel, Dispute Resolution

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Corporate Counsel to join the Dispute Resolution pillar of our global Corporate Legal team. You will take ownership of Adyen’s disputes, advising internal stakeholders on legal risk and guiding matters towards resolution.
This is a hands-on role that is important to protect Adyen’s commercial interests, reputation, and continued sustainable growth. It requires someone who collaborates effectively across functions and excels at decision-making in a fast-moving, complex environment. Sound judgment and the ability to balance legal risk against commercial reality are imperative to success. You will manage disputes end-to-end, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and oversee external counsel to drive effective resolutions.
The role forms part of Adyen’s Corporate Legal team, which covers corporate governance, corporate development, and dispute resolution. The team operates globally, with staff in the Netherlands and the United States, and you will be required to apply your legal knowledge to challenges across Adyen’s operations worldwide.

What You'll Do

  • Take ownership of Adyen’s disputes end to end, advising the business on commercial outcomes and finding pragmatic solutions to challenges as they arise.
  • Manage disputes across multiple jurisdictions, applying and coordinating advice under New York, Dutch, and other relevant laws as Adyen’s operations require.
  • Instruct, oversee, and manage external counsel, keeping matters on strategy, on budget, and moving towards resolution.
  • Partner with teams across the business to resolve disputes and remove friction before it escalates.
  • Once a matter concludes, work with the business to close out risk areas and feed lessons learned back into how Adyen contracts and operates.
  • Apply AI actively in your work, using Adyen's tools to sharpen and scale how the Dispute Resolution pillar operates.
  • Support the broader Corporate Legal team on projects and initiatives spanning corporate governance, corporate development, and cross-functional priorities.
  • Stay abreast of global legal developments relevant to Adyen, proactively identifying risk and advising the business on how to mitigate it.

Who You Are

  • You are admitted to practice law in a US jurisdiction.
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • You are a team player who likes to collaborate and include different people to sharpen your ideas.
  • You have the ability to structure and prioritize in a high volume, fast-paced environment and build, innovate and drive processes to completion.
  • You are available to work from our New York office and travel to other offices periodically.
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
