
Security Analyst

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, highly motivated Security Analyst to join our IT team. This individual will take direction from senior team members to help safeguard our information systems, support compliance with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST 800-171 and CMMC, assist with optimizing our security technologies, and contribute to proactive and effective security practices across the organization. The Security Analyst plays a key role in maintaining Aechelon’s compliance, cybersecurity readiness, and continuous monitoring. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys detail-oriented monitoring, documentation, and compliance work, and who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Compliance Monitoring & Documentation
- Perform continuous monitoring activities to verify that security controls are implemented and functioning as intended.
- Maintain and update the Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), and other documentation to reflect current system states and findings.
- Track and record compliance progress in the CMMC compliance dashboard; provide updates as findings arise.
- Support security assessments, audits, and reviews by collecting and organizing evidence of compliance.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of system changes, incidents, and remediation actions.
Security Operations & Network Monitoring
- Monitor system logs, alerts, and dashboards using Microsoft Defender, Splunk and other security tools.
- Assist in identifying, investigating, and documenting potential security incidents or anomalies.
- Support vulnerability management activities including scanning, analysis, and remediation tracking.
- Coordinate with system administrators to validate that security configurations remain in compliance with policy and baseline standards.
Audit Support & Corrective Actions
- Assist in preparing for audits by maintaining accurate security documentation and evidence repositories.
- Support the implementation and validation of corrective actions based on audit results or security reviews.
- Participate in lessons-learned reviews and contribute to improvement of processes and controls.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with the Info Sec and IT teams to ensure that operational security measures align with policy.
- Provide input into configuration management and system change documentation.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cybersecurity monitoring and compliance.
- Stay current on emerging compliance requirements and security technologies relevant to Aechelon’s environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience in cybersecurity, compliance, or IT security operations.
- Working knowledge of NIST 800-171, CMMC, or related DoD cybersecurity frameworks.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in a Defense Industrial Base (DIB) environment.
- Hands-on experience with SIEM, vulnerability scanning, and compliance tracking tools.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CMMC Certified Professional, or Splunk Core Certified User.

- Strong collaboration skills and ability to coordinate across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a remote work environment
- Demonstrated integrity and sound judgment when handling sensitive information
Salary Range:
$106,000 - $111,000 USD per year
The above range is specific to CALIFORNIA and may not be applicable to other locations. Final compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
