Work Arrangement
This is an OCONUS deployed onsite position. Deployed rotation, 3 months on 3 months off. Approximately 6 months total deployed time per year. Candidate can live anywhere CONUS.
Job Overview
The Crew Chief (CC) position primarily functions as a mechanic on aircraft for a Department of Defense national, theater, operational or tactical level customer. The CC is responsible for the airworthiness of the Aircraft. Responsibilities include scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fueling, preflight, and launch/recovery of the aircraft. The CC is responsible for keeping the aircraft logbooks up to date and noting and correcting any discrepancies. Also responsible for the accountability of tools, equipment, and parts that they use. The CC shall have a thorough understanding of all physical aspects of the aircraft and be proficient in the use of aircraft checklist. CC shall perform duties using established processes and best practices used in military and/or commercial aviation.
Essential Functions
- Position is responsible for executing all maintenance actions to support on-time delivery of service.
- Creates flight schedules and tracks aircraft specific information for reporting.
- Interprets technical data from blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Conducts aircraft ground fueling and weight and balance in accordance with technical procedures.
- Manages and executes aircraft and engine maintenance as required.
- Ensures the accurate documentation of aircraft maintenance records in accordance with established aviation safety procedures and processes.
- Completes aircraft and engine maintenance as required or needed, in accordance with job guides and maintenance procedures.
- Follows established and normal aviation safety procedures and processes.
- Conducts scheduled inspections and completes follow-up as required.
- Inspects engines, landing gear, instruments, brakes, valves, air conditioning, pumps, pressurized sections, and other aircraft related systems.
- Completes necessary maintenance and repairs/replacements on the aircraft, its subsystems, and components.
- Repairs sheet metal or composite surfaces and assemblies.
- Checks for corrosion, distortion and cracks in the fuselage, wing, tail and other subassemblies with applicable instructions and directives.
- Supports aircraft launch and recovery operations.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
- CC appointed as a Technical Inspector (not a labor category):
- Reviews/inspects work conducted by other personnel.
- Ensure compliance with procedures, job guides, standard operating procedures, and industry best practices.
- Accomplish Associated Paperwork.
- Documents Trends and report them to the Maintenance Manager/Chief of Maintenance.

Qualifications and Competencies
- Must possess an active DoD Secret Security Clearance, or higher (as directed by the contract).
- Must meet all DoD Contractor deployment requirements and pass Combat Reediness Course.
- Must have excellent verbal, written communication, and organizational skills.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- The ability to professionally interface with numerous levels of management, customers, and peers.
- The ability to work extended hours and/or shift work.
- The ability to work in a team environment while accomplishing mission requirements.
- Ability to perform line and site level maintenance and repairs.
- Excellent organization skills
- Experience installing and maintaining electrical systems.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical issues, and ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics, and understand the theory of operation.
- Experience with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions and electrical safety measures.
- Experience using multi-meter, oscilloscope, and like equipment to test electrical systems.
- Knowledge and experience with Unmanned Aircraft Systems and subsystems.
- Knowledge and experience with Aircraft Technical Manuals (General Systems, Job Guides, Fault Isolation, etc.).
- Manned aviation flight line or UAS flight operations experience.
- Work Experience in aviation field in OCONUS (deployed) location.
Education / Certifications
- Must have a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Must be a US citizen with a valid US passport.
- Must possess current FAA Class II Medical Certificate.
Experience
- Minimum 2-4 years of relative experience and knowledge of Aviation Maintenance.
- UAS Maintenance Experience (Group 2+) 2+ years
- OCONUS deployment experience is a must.

Security Clearance
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
