The role
You'll keep AFC's tractors and trailers safe, documented, and ready to roll out of our Gary shop. You'll report to the Shop Operations Manager and work alongside our Diesel Mechanics. Success means quality repairs done right the first time, clean work orders, and a growing skill set that moves you up our technician ladder.
What you'll do
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, and fluid service
- Service tires, wheel ends, and brakes, including adjustments and air-system checks
- Repair trailers, lighting, wiring, and basic electrical issues
- Document every job in Fullbay: complaint, findings, parts, labor, and correction
- Assist Diesel Mechanics on engine, transmission, HVAC, and drivetrain repairs
- Self-check and test your work, and stop and flag anything that isn't safe
What you bring
- Hands-on experience in fleet, truck, trailer, or heavy equipment maintenance
- Working knowledge of tires, brakes, air systems, and basic electrical
- Your own hand tools
- Attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
- Willingness to learn from senior technicians and grow your skills
Nice to have
- CDL
- Fullbay or other shop management software experience
- ASE or DOT inspection certification

Where you'll work
Gary, IN terminal. Full-time, on site in the shop.
Physical demands
Work is performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and outdoor temperatures. Requires standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs, and use of required PPE.
