Senior Director, Data Migration

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Director of Data Migration to lead and scale our data migration practice within a premier practice management software. This senior-level role will oversee the full lifecycle of data migration projects, ensuring seamless transitions for our customers from legacy systems to our platform. As a key member of the leadership team, you will develop strategic initiatives, optimize operations, and build a high-performing team to drive efficiency, customer satisfaction, and business growth.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Leadership & Operational Oversight:
- Develop and implement a scalable data migration strategy that aligns with company growth objectives.
- Oversee the end-to-end data migration process, including extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), ensuring high-quality data integrity and accuracy.
- Establish best practices, policies, and frameworks for efficient data migration execution.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Support, Sales, Business Operations, Engineering, and Marketing teams to enhance the customer onboarding experience.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data migration engineers, specialists, and consultants.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Define performance metrics and drive process improvements to enhance operational excellence.
- Customer Success & Experience:
- Own the customer migration experience, ensuring smooth transitions from legacy systems with minimal business disruption.
- Engage directly with key customers to understand their needs, address challenges, and drive successful outcomes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure a customer-centric approach to migrations.
- Technology & Process Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to enhance automation and optimize data migration workflows.
- Implement tools and technologies that improve data migration efficiency and quality.
- Partner with Engineering and Product teams to influence product enhancements that facilitate seamless data migrations.
- Risk Management & Compliance:
- Ensure all data migrations comply with industry regulations, security protocols, and company policies.
- Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Establish robust data governance and validation processes to uphold data integrity.
- KPIs & Success Metrics:
- Customer Migration Success Rate: Measure the percentage of migrations completed on time and without critical data loss.
- Data Accuracy & Integrity: Ensure a minimum threshold for error-free data migrations (e.g., 99.9% accuracy).
- Customer Satisfaction Scores: Track post-migration customer feedback and maintain a high Net Promoter Score (NPS).
- Operational Efficiency: Improve migration cycle times and reduce manual intervention through automation.
- Team Performance & Development: Monitor employee retention, training completion rates, and internal promotion success.
- Revenue Impact: Evaluate how successful data migrations contribute to customer retention, upsells, and business growth.
- Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Maintain zero incidents of regulatory non-compliance or security breaches.
About You
- 8+ years of experience in data migration, data engineering, or a related field within SaaS, fintech, or practice management software.
- 3+ years of experience in a senior leadership role, managing teams and large-scale data migration projects.
- Deep expertise in data integration, ETL processes, and database management.
- Strong technical acumen with experience in Python, SQL, and cloud-based data solutions.
- Proven track record of optimizing operations, scaling teams, and implementing best practices in data migrations.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in managing an offshore team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on driving measurable results.
- Experience in compliance, risk management, and data security best practices.
- This role is preferred to sit in Austin, Texas.
