Position Summary:
The Manager, Legal and Regulatory Operations provides comprehensive legal support to the organization, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while mitigating legal risks. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements, providing counsel on corporate policies and procedures, and advising on legal and regulatory issues affecting the organization. Collaborates with internal teams and external counsel to address legal inquiries, support business operations, and resolve complex legal matters efficiently. This position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and communication skills.
What you will do:
Legal Coordination and Support:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the legal team, addressing legal inquiries, managing internal systems to triage requests, and ensuring all business practices, contracts, and communications adhere to legal standards
• Draft, review, and edit various legal contracts, correspondence, and other documents to support organizational compliance and operations
• Provide ongoing legal support and guidance to cross-functional teams, including Sales, Proposals, Marketing, Account Management, Operations, and the Executive Team
Policy and Procedure Management:
• Develop, implement, update, and maintain policies and procedures across areas of responsibility
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations, updating company policies accordingly
Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
• Manage and track license applications for Secretary of State (SOS), Third Party Administrator (TPA), Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), and other state filings, including risk assessments, renewal applications, and state reporting requirements such as tax obligations where applicable
• Oversee federally regulated reporting and filings by maintaining an up-to-date database of state-specific and federal regulatory requirements
• Provide expert knowledge and guidance on key regulatory topics, including Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
Contract and Resource Management:
• Create and maintain the contract lifecycle management infrastructure and its repositories
• Explore avenues to maximize company resources while ensuring consistent and sustainable legal spending practices
Oversight and Professional Collaboration:
• Manage the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request process, including handling incoming requests, coordinating inquiries, and monitoring responses while ensuring clear communication with stakeholders
• Foster collaboration and alignment with external counsel, vendors, and service providers
• Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and professionalism throughout the organization
What you need:
• Must live near the Louisville, KY area
• Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree or active bar membership is strongly preferred
• 5 years of experience in a legal or regulatory role
• Proven experience with contract lifecycle management, business licensing, and regulatory filings (federal and state) including related software and database tools
• Experience in policy development, process improvement, and risk identification within a corporate setting
• Familiarity with FOIA processes, ERISA, and CAA regulations
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Proactive in identifying risks and offering actionable solutions
• Ability to treat sensitive information with the highest degree of confidentiality
• Strong organization, communication, and planning skills
• Demonstrated experience managing legal programs, projects, and processes
• Energetic, proactive, self-starter who thrives in a dynamic and fast paced environment
• Impeccable professional ethics, integrity, and judgment
• Willingness and ability to travel (10%-20%)
