Position Summary:

The Director, Pharmacy Trend is responsible for driving improvements in member health outcomes through proactive pharmacy trend detection, clinical program development, and execution. This role identifies spend variations and partners across the enterprise to implement strategies that control pharmacy cost trends. Working closely with Clinical Formulary Strategies and Operations, they will monitor both pipeline and existing medications for market events that impact cost and utilization. The ideal candidate blends strong business acumen with deep clinical expertise to foster a culture of accountability, performance, and collaboration.

What you will do:

Pharmacy Trend Leadership:

  • Utilize broad understanding of managed care and pharmacy trends to foster the development of strategies to mitigate plan cost and trend while improving our member's health
  • Translate clinical insights into financial impact to ensure AffirmedRx is delivering plan savings to our clients

Pharmacy Trend Identification & Mitigation:

  • Utilize broad understanding of managed care and medical and pharmacy trends to foster the development of strategies to mitigate Humana's cost and trend while improving our member's health
  • Lead pharmacy trend process including month over month, quarter over quarter and year over year trend review
  • Proactively highlights key drug trend opportunities leveraging insights, market trends, industry feedback to meet key objectives and leverages information to devise new or improved product offerings
  • Partners with clinical and business professionals, actuaries and operations in a team environment
  • Produces high quality reports to be shared with leadership team including trend updates and market event notifications
  • Lead the analysis and generation of insights related to pharmacy trends to inform future formulary strategy

What you need:

  • Degree of Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD or RPh) from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacy licensure
  • 10+ years of clinical experience in managed care or pharmacy related field
  • Previous experience in pharmacy clinical program trend
  • Able to give directions and make sound business decisions
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  • Previous experience in trend analysis
  • Strong track record of driving solutions that achieved clinical and financial outcome
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, previous experience presenting and interacting with senior leadership
  • Ability to educate, influence and direct stakeholders on the strategies supporting trend mitigation
  • Proficiency in procurement systems, vendor management tools, and data analysis platforms
  • Willingness and ability to travel (10%-20%)
