Procurement Specialist (Contract, Ireland Based)

THE ROLE

As a Procurement Specialist, you will primarily focus on conducting category analysis and research, gathering insights, developing and managing supplier relationships and offering pivotal decision-making support not only to the sourcing team but also to key business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in procurement processes, market research expertise, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.

Your role will involve working on designated categories, collaborating closely with AG1’s accomplished Procurement Managers. Through this collaboration, you'll play a vital role in executing the procurement strategy and delivering on specific milestones. This role requires strong communication & problem solving skills for effective cross functional collaboration, along with having great attention to detail, critical thinking and analysis skills.

This is a 3-month long contractor engagement and is 100% remote.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Category Research & Analysis

  • Conduct ongoing category reviews and analysis to identify performance trends, risks, profitability, market demand, customer preference, and other necessary KPI’s 
  • Collaborate with team to develop reports, presentations, and recommendations based on research findings and proactively share findings to support strategic decision-making
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive category database of current manufacturers and suppliers of all materials as a means to compare cost, geo, availability, demand, etc.; leveraging this tool to enhance and streamline data-informed decisions.
  • Maintain market intelligence and provide timely communication on changes in market conditions and potential problem areas, including crop seasonality, natural disasters, market fluctuations etc.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Manage supplier onboarding and offboarding, maintaining clear, professional, and effective communication while upholding AG1's exemplary representation
  • Coordinate the procurement and delivery of samples with vendors and suppliers, ensuring timely receipt and evaluation in accordance with specified requirements and quality standards.
  • Continuously assess supplier performance, identifying opportunities for improvements, and mitigating potential risks
  • Liaise with the the Sourcing Managers on executing contracts in a timely manner ensuring proper documentation is completed and stored appropriately  
  • Partner with the Legal and Quality teams to ensure vendor compliance with all certifications and requirements set forth by AG1, including specifications 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support RNI with new product launches and innovation through the stage gate process to understand needs and requirements and ensure the selected suppliers meet the organization's objectives; serving as a liaison between the Sourcing Manager and various business leaders to ensure alignment on sourcing strategies 
  • Perform thorough research and analysis on novel ingredients or packaging components, aiming to bolster and facilitate the advancement of product development and innovation initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations to internal stakeholders about which ingredients or components to retain, enhance, modify, or discontinue based on analysis.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in market research, data analysis, or a procurement-related role.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, such as Excel, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey insights effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a global, cross-functional team environment.
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and procurement methodologies.
