THE ROLE

AG1 is looking for an experienced and highly-strategic Senior Director, Procurement (Category Insights / Supplier Development and Management) to join our growing global Supply Chain team. This role will play a pivotal role in leading the identification, development and management of key suppliers in our direct categories (Ingredients and Packaging). Additionally, the role will have overall responsibility for assessing the viability of innovation products within the organization and will implement strategies to develop supplier capabilities to meet the needs of AG1 (reducing supply chain risk, driving sustainability and supply traceability, ensuring the highest quality and enabling profitability through competitive pricing and cashflow). The role will be critical in ensuring AG1 is able to fully utilize its network of 3rd party partners to achieve the company’s objectives and our consumer value proposition.

You will be responsible for managing a team of three procurement professionals, who will oversee key parts of a 7 step sourcing process (contract implementation, supplier management, market trends and data-driven insights, key performance tracking, defining business needs, and identifying and validating new suppliers), working with a cross-functional team to deliver excellence across our supply chain. You will have a strong understanding of the ingredient market for supplements, key suppliers and trends, and a proven track record of supporting in the development and execution of category strategies and supplier sourcing. You will show a strong competence around the use of data/analytics to assess and evaluate complex business problems and identify gaps and opportunities. You will be responsible for managing and developing the supplier base of the total Ingredient and Packaging Category of AG1 (which covers circa 100+ ingredients/packaging SKUs across our portfolio).

This role is 100% remote and must be based in Ireland.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategic Sourcing / Supplier Development & Management

  • Implement and oversee 4 of the 7 Steps in sourcing listed below: enable the AG1 Sourcing team to drive competitive tendering and ensure excellence in the execution of our supplier contracts and supply chain performance.
  • Product and Supplier Data/Analytics (step 2): using market insights and data together with supplier performance data to establish key opportunities for improved business results. Working with the sourcing team to implement learnings into category strategies, sourcing strategies, and process improvements.
  • Business Needs and Specification Development (step 3): Working with our Supply, Product Development, and Quality teams (and more) to challenge the business needs and establish minimum expectations from our sourced products/partners (specifications, SLAs, contract requirements, etc)
  • Supplier Discovery and Approvals (step 4): Using Market Insights and Intelligence, participation in trade events, and supplier scouting to establish new supply options for AG1. Overseeing a process for supplier sampling and approval to optimize the number of approved suppliers within AG1 (enabling supply security and competition)
  • Contract Execution and Supplier Management (step 7): Implementation of new suppliers into the supply chain, setting up and executing supplier routines and executing SLA and KPI tracking, 
  • Working with the Sourcing team to create and maintain overall category strategy: Utilizing key strategic tools such as Kearney’s Purchasing Chess Board to evaluate category positioning and optimum strategies to deploy (beyond sourcing alone). Utilizing Category strategy insights to oversee none-sourcing actions (ie, supplier innovation development).
  • Manage, Develop, and Coach a team of AG1 Procurement Managers, ensuring clarity in roles, strong execution, and performance tracking while fostering a culture of learning and development.
  • Guide cross-functional teams and ensure strong business partner processes are set up to keep all relevant functions informed all leaders engaged, aware, and involved.

 Continuous Value Creation (Category Strategy/Innovation Implementation)

  • Execute Cross-functional routines with the Product Development (PD) team, ensuring alignment on priorities, the correct execution of NPD stage gate processes, and key decisions and actions to be taken.
  • Own the overall viability validation for all new innovations in the company, ensuring alternative suppliers are identified and approved, validating price points, understanding and confirming business case hypothesis, etc.
  • Oversee and manage supplier commitments on innovation - managing supplier execution throughout innovation projects, ensuring we deliver against timelines and to the quality expectations of the business .
  • Partner with the FP&A team on reporting on actual volumes/prices and variances vs. budgets – utilizing data and insights to agree with priority actions and projects.
  • Employ value engineering methodologies to optimize cost efficiencies and drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring we maintain a competitive edge in the market.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, innovative procurement technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact sourcing strategies.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 10-15 years of procurement, strategic sourcing and/or supply chain management with an ingredients background..
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing suppliers/supply chain improvements and managing supplier relationships on a global scale.
  • Proficiency in supplier approval and quality processes for ingredients and packaging materials
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proven ability to manage multiple work streams at once.
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication, and organizational skills.
