THE ROLE

We are looking for a self-motivated Specialist, Lab Technician (PD) to join our growing Research, Innovation, and Nutrition team. This role is 100% onsite at the AG1 Chicago Area -based product development lab. As a critical team member of the RNI (Research, Nutrition, and Innovation) team contributing to the success of Product Development, you will be responsible for executing the sampling and blending of raw materials and ingredients for both new and existing products in accordance with established protocols and procedures. Reporting to the Product Development Lab Manager, you will ensure the timely and accurate preparation of materials for testing and evaluation as well as ensure lab activities are executed flawlessly, ensuring you are keeping up with AG1’s highest standards of excellence. 

This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois at AG1’s PD lab facility and requires a full-time, onsite working schedule. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Prepare samples and conduct experiments under the guidance of the Lab Manager to support product development innovation and renovation initiatives.
  • Utilize blending equipment and techniques to accurately mix and combine raw materials and ingredients according to specified formulations and recipes for the AG1 product line.
  • Assist in the organization and management of raw material inventory, including proper storage, labeling and tracking of materials.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to optimize sample blending procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the PD Lab Manager in maintaining accurate records of all sampling and blending activities, including batch records, test results, and inventory logs.
  • Assist in planning, executing and evaluating data from sensory evaluation studies to assess the sensory attributes of AG1 products, including taste, aroma, appearance, texture, and overall acceptability
  • Perform routine analytical testing procedures including but not limited to water activity, moisture analysis, and pH measurements to evaluate product quality
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization within the lab and work areas, ensuring that all equipment is properly clean, stored, calibrated and maintained for optimal performance.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3-5 years of product development experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a product development or food manufacturing industry.
  • B.S. Degree in Food Science/Technology, Chemistry, or a related field is required.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques and equipment operation, showcasing the ability to effectively utilize instrumentation and conduct analytical testing, ensuring accuracy and reliability in testing procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions and protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities, facilitating collaboration with colleagues.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies in analytical chemistry and quality assurance.
  • Dedication to maintaining a safe and clean work environment, prioritizing the well-being of oneself and others in accordance with established safety protocols and regulations.

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is $69,000.00 - $86,500.00 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
