THE ROLE

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Specialist, Product Development to join our dynamic Research, Nutrition, and Innovation (RNI) team at AG1. Reporting to the Manager, Product Development – Renovation, you will play a key role in supporting the management and maintenance of existing product specifications and formulations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our formulations meet both internal quality standards and regulatory requirements. While this role focuses on the optimization of existing products, your contributions will also help provide valuable insights to guide product improvements and maintain alignment with consumer preferences and industry trends. Your organizational skills and attention to detail will be crucial in supporting AG1’s ongoing product quality and compliance initiatives.

Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented technical specialist with strong communication skills, an effective collaborator across teams. They should have a solid understanding of product specifications and formulations, with a focus on maintaining and optimizing existing products. A passion for ensuring quality and compliance in the food science and nutrition industry, combined with the ability to analyze data and support ongoing product improvements, will be key in this role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Formulation and Specification Management

  • Assist in the creation, modification, and maintenance of product recipes and specifications in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Support the approval workflow process, ensuring that updates to product recipes and specifications are reviewed and approved by relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of recipe information, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to validate.
  • Collaborate closely with the Legal, Regulatory, and Quality teams about industry regulations and changes to ensure compliance in specification creation. 


Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Support the ongoing management of existing product formulations within the PLM system, assisting in any necessary updates or changes. 
  • Work alongside Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Quality Teams to evaluate suppliers and assess the suitability of ingredients for current formulations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to address deviations or issues identified during data review.
  • Collaborate with AG1 teams to ensure smooth communication and collaboration through the product development process.


Technical Documentation & Data Analysis

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including formulation records, standard operating procedures, and product development reports.
  • Ensure clear and accurate documentation of product formulations and specifications for transparency and well-documented processes.
  • Assist in the analysis of product data, ensuring that product specifications are accurate and compliant with established standards.

 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years of experience in an FDA-regulated, GMP manufacturing environment in the dietary supplement, nutritional, food and/or beverage, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition Science, Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent combination of education and experience helpful but not required.
  • Experience in operation of a PLM, ERP, or QMS system.
  • Experience in technical writing including standard operating procedures, technical justifications, and specifications. 
  • Advanced organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to apply deductive critical thinking to ensure product data accuracy and compliance.
  • Proficient in Google Docs, MS Office programs, Product Lifecycle Management, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, cross-functional departments, and external vendors.
  • Occasional travel may be required

AG1 is dedicated to providing equitable and competitive compensation & benefits packages. For this particular role, the base salary range is $69,000 - $86,500 and will ultimately be decided at the offer stage, based on an individual candidate’s level of skills and experience aligned with the needs of this role. Base salary is one component of total compensation for this position. We provide a competitive mix of base salary, performance bonus, and stock option allocation for eligible roles.
