About Us
We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team on an upcoming cloud support services program with our DoD customer at Ft. Meade, MD. In this role, you’ll provide infrastructure engineering support for SCCA activities. Infrastructure engineering tasks typically involve providing subject matter expertise in modern cloud infrastructure, hybrid cloud models, and platform services. It includes activities such as developing technical requirements for network infrastructure, creating, and maintaining service catalogs and Anything as a Service (XaaS) specification, conducting market research analysis, drafting technical portions of acquisition documents, preparing briefings and white papers, supporting application migrations and offering expertise in modern infrastructure.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design cloud architectures for myriad purposes including testing, development, staging, production, and others. Assess SCCA's requirements, select appropriate cloud service models (such as Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, or Software as a Service, and design the infrastructure components, including networks, servers, storage, and security measures.
- Configure and deploy virtual machines, containers, and other cloud resources based on architecture designs and SCCA needs. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up networking components, storage systems, and security measures to ensure proper functioning of cloud environments.
- Monitor the performance and availability of cloud resources using monitoring tools and techniques to track resource utilization, identify bottlenecks or performance issues, and optimize infrastructures for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This may involve adjusting resource allocation, scaling resources up or down and implementing auto-scaling mechanisms.
- Ensure the security and compliance of cloud infrastructures to include implementing security measures such as identity and access management, encryption, network security, and data protection. Additionally, monitor security vulnerabilities, conduct security assessments, and implement necessary controls to meet DoD and industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Perform tasks necessary to troubleshoot and respond to incidents including, but not limited to, investigating system failures, network connectivity problems, performance issues, and other incidents. Work closely with other teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to restore normal operations.
- Leverage automation and scripting tools to streamline infrastructure management tasks including, but not limited to, developing scripts and automation workflows to provision resources, configuring settings, and automating repetitive tasks to improve efficiency, reduce manual errors, and enable better scalability of cloud infrastructures.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise on infrastructure engineering with an emphasis on modern cloud infrastructure, hybrid cloud models, and platform services.
- Support development of technical requirements for SCCA network infrastructure to include design and deployment of secure communication to/from existing enclaves.
- Assist SCCA with tasks to create and/or maintain a Service Catalog as well as an XaaS specification baseline document.
- Assist in the review, analysis, and documentation of market research materials and make recommendations on how that market analysis should inform technical inputs into all documentation.
- Review, draft, and update the technical portions of the acquisition documents, and provide technical services to support the preparation of business cases, analysis of alternatives, program office estimates, cost analysis requirements documentation, and cost estimating.
- Draft, edit, and consolidate briefings and other informational documents with an emphasis on accuracy, quality, and timeliness. Present technical information in a concise manner that can be understood by non-engineers and gives decision-makers the context and key points necessary to make necessary decisions.
- Prepare white papers and informational memoranda on technical areas of interest, such as tactical edge architecture, service integration, etc. Present research findings in a concise manner that can be understood by non-engineers and gives decision-makers the context and key points necessary to make necessary decisions.
- Support analysis and preparatory activities for SCCA selected application migrations including the documentation of those activities. This activity includes, but is not limited to, initial analysis, whitepaper creation, and follow-up reports on overall status and issues.
- Provide technical subject matter expertise on modern cloud infrastructure to conceptualize, create, and maintain modern cloud-based infrastructure including, but not limited to, XaaS and hybrid cloud models across all major cloud service providers.
Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen with a minimum of a current DoD Secret Clearance.
- 10+ years of recent relevant experience (five years of which in Computer Science or related field or in an engineering related discipline).
- BA/BS (or equivalent). An additional 6 years of experience may substitute for a degree.
- Must have and maintain at least one certification from the following list: SecurityX / CASP+, CCNA CCNP Security, CCSP, GCED, GCIA, GCLD, GDSA, GFACT, Security+CE, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, GCIH, CEH, Cloud+.
- Must have a current Cloud Architect certification from any CSP, such as AWS & AZURE.
- DoD Experience.
- Extensive experience working with a Cloud Service Provider (CSP).
- Experience developing Architecture on the network and in the Cloud.
Compensation: $150,000 - $160,000
