AGE Solutions is looking for a Middle-Tier Database Developer, responsible for building and maintaining robust middle-tier services and data-driven applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, maintain and optimize scalable backend systems that power critical business functionality.

The ideal candidate combines solid middle-tier development experience with deep database development knowledge and a strong understanding of system design, performance, maintainability, and data integrity.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain middle-tier services and backend components using C# and .NET technologies that interact with Oracle databases and enterprise systems.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into scalable backend application designs and technical solutions.
  • Develop application business logic, APIs, services, interfaces, and data-access components that support business requirements.
  • Build robust RESTful APIs and business logic layers to support web applications and connectivity to external interfaces.
  • Implement efficient application-to-database interactions using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and appropriate data-access frameworks.
  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain relational databases (Oracle preferred) that load, store, and transmit complex data transactions (e.g., EDI).
  • Optimize database performance, indexing strategies, and query tuning
  • Strong understanding of database design principles and SQL, and ability to navigate between database and client web page technology.
  • Implement actionable database code using complex SQL, PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, views, and other database objects.
  • Apply SOLID principles and clean architecture practices in application design.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to application logic and data layers
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design discussions
  • Troubleshoot application, integration, database connectivity, performance, and production issues across the application stack.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers, Oracle database developers, business analysts, testers, architects, and infrastructure teams to solve critical business issues.
  • Support automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, application deployments, releases, and production operations.
  • Primary duty (≥50%) involves applying systems analysis techniques and designing/developing/testing software/services and databases to meet user/system specifications.

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Citizenship and Clearance:
    • Must be a US citizen.
    • Must be able to achieve a NACLC clearance.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years related experience.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certifications:
    • DoD IAT Level II Certification, such as CompTIA Security+CE or equivalent
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Languages and Frameworks: C#, JavaScript, .NET MVC, Angular
    • Database: Oracle (PL-SQL), Toad SQL Editor
    • Version Control: Azure DevOps Server 2022, Visual Studio 2026
    • Additional Technologies: Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure.
    • Experience applying SOLID principles and object-oriented design patterns
    • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET (.NET Core/.NET 6+) and ASP.NET Web API
    • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and middle-tier services
    • Experience with ORM frameworks (Entity Framework preferred, Dapper)
    • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (Oracle preferred, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
    • Experience writing and optimizing complex queries and stored procedures
    • Strong understanding of data modeling and database design principles
    • Experience with version control systems (TFVC and Git)
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Location:
    • Hybrid Work Environment: Requires on-site work at the client facility in Northeast Philadelphia, PA, each Wednesday.
      • Candidates should be aware that the Government may increase the on-site requirement in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is a plus.
  • Exposure to version control systems like TFS, Visual Studio, Git.
  • Prior experience in a DoD or government contracting environment.
  • Military Medical Supply Chain experience is a big plus.
  • Experience with at least several of the areas below or similar technologies:
    • CI/CD concepts or tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
    • DevOps services using infrastructure as a service provider (e.g., Microsoft Azure)
    • Containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Version Control and Collaboration (Git/GitHub/GitLab)
    • Configuration management tools (e.g., TFS, Jira)
    • Static code analysis tools (SonarQube, Fortify)

Work Environment:

  • Professional office and technical environment supporting mission-critical DoD medical logistics applications and enterprise systems.
  • Work involves extensive use of computers, software-development environments, database tools, collaboration platforms, and standard office equipment.
  • Requires regular collaboration with Government personnel, developers, database specialists, business analysts, testers, architects, and infrastructure teams.
  • May require occasional work outside normal business hours to support deployments, releases, production incidents, maintenance, or other mission-critical activities.
  • Requires compliance with applicable Government facility, security, cybersecurity, and system-access requirements.

Physical Demands:

  • Primarily sedentary work involving extended periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Requires frequent use of a keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other standard office and computer equipment.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and technical stakeholders in person and through virtual collaboration tools.
  • Occasionally requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving throughout an office or client facility.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

The projected salary range for this position is $100,000+ annually. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including years of relevant experience, active security clearance level, certifications, technical skillset, contract requirements, and overall qualifications.
