About the Study 

Age of Learning is conducting a randomized controlled trial examining the impact of ABCmouse Early Learning Academy on early reading and math skills in children ages 4–5. We are hiring part-time Research Assessors (contractors) to administer standardized assessments to children at early childhood education centers across three metropolitan areas. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Complete required Human Subjects and HR onboarding training (paid, completed prior to the first assessment window) 
  • Administer a standardized achievement assessment one-on-one with children ages 4–5 at participating early childhood education centers 
  • Attend required training sessions on assessment administration and scoring  
  • Travel to assigned early childhood education center(s) within your metropolitan area 
  • Participate in two intensive assessment windows:  
  • Baseline: September - October 2026 
  • Follow-up: March–April 2027 
  • Each assessment window lasts approximately 2-3 weeks; expect 15–25 hours per week during active assessment periods 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in education, psychology, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, counseling, or a related field; current graduate students in these fields are strongly encouraged to apply 
  • Experience working with young children (ages 3–6) 
  • Reliable personal transportation (mileage reimbursement provided) 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred 
  • English/ Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) preferred for NYC applicants 

 

Compensation 

  • $30/hour for assessment and training time 
  • $15/hour for travel time 
  • Paid training provided 
  • Mileage reimbursed at the current IRS standard mileage rate
