Enterprise Engineering Strategist

United States

About Agile Six

Agile Six is a people-first, remote-work company that serves shoulder-to-shoulder with federal agencies to find innovative, human-centered solutions. We build better by putting people first. We are animated by our core values of Purpose, Wholeness, Trust, Self-Management and Inclusion. We deliver our solutions in autonomous teams of self-managed professionals (no managers here!) who genuinely care about each other and the work. We know that’s our company’s purpose – and that we can only achieve it by supporting a culture where people feel valued, self-managed, and love to come to work.

The Role

As an Enterprise Engineering Strategist at Agile Six, you will leverage your deep expertise in software engineering, emerging technologies, and applied AI to strengthen and evolve engineering practices across the organization. This role combines hands-on project work with enterprise-level coaching, focusing on how AI-informed tools, patterns, and approaches are redefining what it means to design, build, and deliver software. You will help Agile Six navigate this transformation – guiding teams as engineering roles, workflows, and required skills evolve – and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering and applied AI practice at Agile Six.

Responsibilities

  • AI and Emerging Technology Leadership: Bring deep expertise in engineering and AI to define and drive the strategic direction for how Agile Six adopts and integrates AI and emerging technologies across its engineering practice. Champion a forward-looking vision for how these tools are reshaping the craft of engineering—how code is written, systems are designed, and teams collaborate—and guide the organization in developing the skills, mindsets, and structures needed to thrive in this new era.
  • Enterprise Support and Collaboration: As a member of the Enterprise Support Team, apply your strengths in a variety of ways that advance the business — including business development, delivery, recruiting, community of practice leadership, and team coaching — helping connect engineering excellence to organizational growth and impact.
    • Business Development Support: Contribute to business development efforts by supporting proposal development, leading and participating in code challenges, and providing other support as needed.
    • Recruitment and Hiring: Support the recruitment and hiring of engineering positions within Agile Six -- including creating position descriptions, developing candidate evaluation strategies, and helping to assemble interview panels -- ensuring alignment with our core values, technical needs and strategic anchors, especially applied AI strategy.
    • Community Engagement: Provide leadership to and actively participate in the Engineering Community of Practice at Agile Six, fostering continual learning and interpersonal connection. Support both community-wide and individual engagement by building relationships, advocating for engineers, and promoting awareness of individual skills within the community.
  • Provide Mentorship and Guidance: Apply strong interpersonal, coaching, and mentorship skills to support the Agile Six engineering community in areas such as personal career development, engineering best practices, and the thoughtful adoption of AI-enabled tools and workflows that amplify human creativity and impact.
  • Promote Modern Tools and Practices: Stay current with modern and rapidly evolving delivery tools and practices, and actively support the company in adopting and effectively using them.
  • Support Project Kick-offs and Delivery: Ensure smooth transitions and early momentum by aligning teams on best practices, feedback structures, and delivery cadences from day one.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated depth in software engineering expertise, with at least 10 years of hands-on experience designing, building, and delivering systems leveraging a variety of platforms and architectures.
  • Proven engineering leadership, with at least 5 years of experience guiding teams, shaping technical direction, and fostering high standards of engineering excellence within an organization.
  • Demonstrated practical expertise and strategic vision in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to advance how software is conceived, built, and delivered, including experience guiding engineers and teams in their effective adoption.
  • Experience working in or with government agencies.
  • Significant experience delivering solutions and outcomes within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience supporting the recruiting, evaluation, and hiring of engineering practitioners at all levels.
  • Significant experience providing mentorship and/or coaching to other practitioners.
  • Solid understanding of how software engineering activities support and work alongside other practice areas in delivery, including human-centered design, solution analysis, product ownership, delivery management, and quality assurance.
  • Has lived and worked in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You are a U.S. Veteran. As a service-disabled veteran-owned business, we recognize the transition to civilian life can be tricky, and welcome and encourage Veterans to apply
  • Experience building and/or training AI services, such as preparing data for utilization in AI services, creating vector databases, building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, or training models.

Our Approach to Leadership

Agile Six has a unique and non-traditional organizational culture that puts people first and lives our core values in everything we do. This culture results in a unique approach to practice area leadership:

  • We do not have middle managers or traditional corporate ladders, nor do we have the office politics that normally accompany these. Instead, we build healthy self-managing teams and relationships among peers based on trust.
  • We don’t believe leadership derives from titles. Instead, we believe leadership emerges organically as people consistently demonstrate it.
  • We don’t lead by giving direction or permission. Instead, we lead by stepping up to hard challenges, providing effective advice, holding space for people and teams to grow, modeling our values, and fostering great outcomes and healthy teams.
  • We really care about what we do and are looking for someone who brings the same passion for building a better Government and building lasting relationships.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
