Additive Manufacturing Engineer

Located in Durango, CO, (Headquarters) and Mount Pleasant, PA (Additive Manufacturing Center) and now expanding into Tulsa, OK. Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.
Agile Space Industries is seeking an Additive Manufacturing (AM) Engineer starting in January of 2025 who has a strong knowledge and proven experience with metal laser powder bed fusion. In this role, you will be a critical team member of the design team, taking ownership of AM processes. You will be responsible for providing design feedback (DfAM), build preparation, optimizing for feature-specific parameters, and developing new processes. You will own additive processes for new product introduction (NPI), work with the Agile Additive production team and project managers to set priorities, and facilitate root cause investigations for non-conformances.
Job Details
- Work with design engineers to improve part designs for AM
- Manage parts through the AM workflow, from material selection, Design of Experiment (DoE), to part fabrication, and final delivery
- Work with project managers and business development teams to support the budgeting, scheduling, and execution of new and existing programs
- Establish and document AM processes that meet aerospace/space quality standards
- Develop frameworks to manage and organize big data associated with the AM digital thread
- Advanced relationships with customers and vendors to drive improvements across AM workflow
- Ability to travel for business development activities
Qualifications
- B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering or technical field
- 3+ years of experience standing up, improving, and debugging metal laser powder bed fusion processes or other metal additive platforms
- 3+ years of experience leveraging DFAM for metal laser powder bed fusion
- Strong fundamentals in metallurgy and/or materials science (e.g. chemistry, production, testing, and validation)
- Knowledge and experience with metal AM post-processing (e.g. de-powdering, subtractive manufacturing, and heat treatment)
- Knowledge and experience with CAD and AM data preparations software (e.g. SolidWorks, 3DXpert, Magics, ANSYS Additive Print, etc.)
- Experience with quality management systems and associated standards (i.e. NASA-STD-6030, ASTM, AMS, etc.)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Skills:
- Energetic, positive, self-starter with the ability to work autonomously while simultaneously leading and developing a high performing team

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Disciplined and systemic approach to management

The Salary range for this position is $100,000-$140,000.
