THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

The Schools ICT Engineer is a vital role within Agilisys, providing high‑quality, onsite ICT support within a large secondary school in St Helens. You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of day‑to‑day school IT services, supporting staff, students, and visitors, and maintaining a reliable, high‑availability environment.

Specific Duties

  • Provide face‑to‑face and remote support to students, staff, and visitors
  • Log, manage, and resolve ICT incidents within defined SLAs and KPIs
  • Deliver exceptional customer service at all times
  • Build, configure, and deploy end‑user devices for staff and students
  • Install and update applications on user devices
  • Support printers, projectors, and other school equipment
  • Complete administrative tasks including asset management and documentation
  • Support school events such as open evenings, parents' evenings, and other scheduled activities
  • Work collaboratively with other ICT engineers to maintain a reliable, high‑availability environment

Typical working hours are 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required based on school and business needs.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will be driven, customer‑focused, and enthusiastic about delivering high‑quality ICT support within an educational environment, with a strong track record of problem‑solving and delivering results.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and products (Windows 10/11 and Windows Server)
  • Experience supporting hardware and software, including PCs, laptops, printers, and projectors
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting in a managed environment
  • Familiarity with mixed Apple and Microsoft environments, including basic Apple device support
  • Experience building, configuring, and deploying end‑user devices across different operating systems
  • Good understanding of networked printers, including MFD devices
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to support non‑technical users
  • Proven problem‑solving ability with a proactive and organised approach
  • Experience working in an IT support or customer‑focused environment (education experience desirable)
Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above), including English and Mathematics, a full clean driving licence, and the ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check are required.
