Credit Analyst

We are in search of a Credit Analyst I, II, or III to join our Specialized Lending department in Spokane, Washington (Headquarters) or Rocklin, California. This full-time position reports to the SVP, Credit and is responsible for providing high quality, profitable and constructive credit and related services to customers in the Capital Markets portfolio. Through actions and communications, creates a positive image of AgWest and markets effectively to our lending partners, customers and others with whom they come into contact.
After an initial in-office training period, this position is eligible for workplace flexibility and a one-time home office stipend. Employees are expected to continue working from their office location a minimum of 50% or 60% of the time depending on location.
Compensation Information
The base salary range for this position in Spokane, Washington is:
Level I:
Typical starting range: $58,500 - $78,300
Full base salary range: $58,500 - $88,200
Annual performance-based incentive target is 10% of base.
Level II:
Typical starting range: $64,600 - $86,500
Full base salary range: $64,600 - $97,500
Annual performance-based incentive target is 12% of base.
Level III:
Typical starting range: $70,800 - $97,500
Full base salary range: $70,800 - $110,800
Annual performance-based incentive target is 15% of base.
The base salary range for this position in Rocklin, California is:
Level I:
Typical starting range: $67,700 - $90,400
Full base salary range: $67,700 - $101,600
Annual performance-based incentive target is 10% of base.
Level II:
Typical starting range: $73,900 - $99,200
Full base salary range: $73,900 - $118,800
Annual performance-based incentive target is 12% of base.
Level III:
Typical starting range: $81,100 - $111,900
Full base salary range: $91,100 - $140,600
Annual performance-based incentive target is 15% of base.
Job Requirements
- Perform due diligence and risk profiles on loans being purchased from other lenders.
- Provide key communication link with syndication and participation customers in areas of due diligence and administration; assist management in direct marketing and purchasing activities of participations and syndications.
- Gather financial and business-related information for customers and prospects from the origination lender and other available information resources through personal interviews, phone interviews, and the Internet.
- Read and interpret financial statements prepared at all levels of “quality” including audits, opinions and notes, tax records, “in house” prepared financial statements and pro forma statements.
- Prepare complex credit analysis of multiple entity organizations; submit high quality analysis and recommendations to senior staff in the Capital Markets unit and to Credit Approval for final action. Comply with AgWest documentation expectations, procedures, laws and regulations.
- Effectively participate in the Large Loan Committee process to ensure high quality products are delivered within the agreed time frames and within the risk parameters acceptable to AgWest.
- Complete customer visits, collateral inspections and documents observations; this requires transportation to and from business operations located throughout the United States, visually inspecting the condition and valuation of loan collateral, evaluating the customer’s management practices and assessing income and cash flow generating capacity of the business including plant and equipment.
- Ensure a high degree of credit administration by developing and implementing Account Management plans.
- Communicate with other groups and teams and ensure timely transfers between portfolio groups to meet customer service needs and organization objectives.
- Support both lender and customer relationships through marketing and servicing financially related products by communicating with lenders and customers, their professional representatives and employees at locations of their convenience.
- Conduct research of agricultural and related industries and commodities to determine viability, trends and opportunities for the AgWest to strengthen its position.
- Assist in accurately classifying assigned loans.
- Assist in credit investigations on applicants including public record searches, credit bureau reports, employment and income verification and asset and liability verification.
- Participate in loan closings by ensuring the appropriate documentation is completed and routed to appropriate parties.
- Effectively work with customers and other Farm Credit employees and outside parties.
- Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or ag-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Generally requires at least one year of experience in Capital Markets or related area.
- Ability to market products, including loan programs, interest rate programs and financially related services, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to inspect facilities, machinery, livestock and crops on customer farms to evaluate credit factors, complete farm visits or complete collateral valuations.
- Advanced analytical skills and the ability to perform complex credit analysis and draw appropriate conclusions.
- Ability to understand and interpret complex financial statements and credit documents.
- Knowledge of credit classifications and sound loan administration practices.
- Ability to coordinate loan servicing activities with staff in other locations.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
- Strong written communication skills to clearly convey complex information.
Preferred Requirements
- Knowledge of Farm Credit policies and procedures, loan programs and financially related services.
- Knowledge of applicable credit laws and regulations in order to process loan transactions.
- Knowledge of bankruptcy law and collection procedures.
- Knowledge of appraisal techniques and principles.
- Knowledge of local agricultural practices and crop and livestock production.
