Corporate Bursar
Cotulla Education | Full-Time 

Position Purpose

The Corporate Bursar is responsible for ensuring all funds, including Title IV funds and alternative funds, are posted to student accounts properly and in a timely manner. This role ensures all refunds due are processed within the guidelines of accrediting agencies, the state, and the Department of Education. The Corporate Bursar also ensures that all drop and cancel students have the required Return to Title IV calculations performed in a timely manner, and that these students receive a letter summarizing their student account.

Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review Student Status Change Report for all drop and cancel students.
  • Calculate all student refunds via CampusNexus within four (4) days of a student's date of determination of inactive status, and schedule refunds of unearned aid received.
  • Reverse any tuition charges and fees that do not apply.
  • Prepare and mail out the Bursar Department Exit Letter to students and document on CampusNexus.
  • Review approved Pell/SEOG/ACG batches and approved Direct Loan batches in CampusNexus; note the total needed to complete the draw from G5.
  • Request the drawing of federal funds from G5.
  • Post Pell/SEOG/ACG and Direct Loans to appropriate student accounts through CampusNexus.
  • Review and process refunds and student stipends, and post EFT payments.
  • Reconcile spreadsheets for the G5 and Federal Funds bank account, and complete reconciliation of deposits with CampusNexus against monthly statements.
  • Assist with campus mock and accreditation audits/visits, and requests for information from other departments and/or accrediting agencies, in support of campus operations.
  • Perform and complete other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent on-the-job experience, required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience & Skills

  • At least two (2) years of financial or accounting experience; experience in an academic environment preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, performance-driven, compliance-oriented educational environment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • High level of integrity, strong work ethic, and professionalism.
  • Persuasive and effective verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service in an educational setting.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams). CampusNexus experience a plus.
  • Willingness to work outside of regular shifts, including evenings and/or weekends, as necessary or requested by Supervisor.
